Year of a D60...

How do you tell what year a D60 is? I was assuming that the one I took out of my 79 K30 was a 79. I just spent about 3 hours w/ a putty knife, Dawn dishwashing soap, a brush and some good of fashion elbow grease cleaning it up. The knuckes are a different color than the housing, and the housing seems to have some writing on it (not readable). I was wondering if this is possibly a newer frontend that may have been swapped in at sometime over the last 25 years.

The date is stamped on the front side of the long axle tube. The bom number is there as well. D60 Bible

Hmmm, would seem that my 79 K30 possibly has an 88 frontend in it. Not positive, will have to look again tomarrow when I haven't had any frosty cool ones...
