OK, everything was running great, until the damned acceleration pump started puking gas all over the engine. Luckily no fire resulted.

I took out the carb, took it apart and cleaned everything and rebuilt it with a basic kit. Now it runs very rich. With the idle screws all the way in it idles fast. And when the engine warms up to around 195 or so, I really lose a lot of power at the top end. Accelerating at freeway speeds is impossible as are any kind of hill at 50mph +

Any suggestions?

Take it back off , double check everything , and put it back on . If it runs with the screws all the way in there has to be a problem . Same old same old , make sure there are no vacuum leaks , and everything went back on the proper ports etc . You did record the number of turns for the screws etc on disassembly since it was a rebuild , so you had a baseline setting when you restarted it , right /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
