I've been searching and I've yet to come up with the answer I'm looking for. When setting up my hydro assist, do I want the ram to stop before it hits my mechanical stops. That sounds like the way to go because the hyraulic will push through my mechanical stops correct? Yet, I don't want to stop before my mechanical stops do I? Because that will make all the pressure at full steer to be on my hydraulic.

Using the ram to limit your steering travel is just like using shocks to limit your suspension travel. Lots of people do it, and there are some that break shocks/rams because they do it. The correct way is to have the ram and the steering stops on the knuckle bottom out at the same time.

A hydro ram is nothing even close to a shock. Hmm, when I bought my hydro set up back in 2003 the instructions even said the ram is now going to be the steering stop.
