I ordered my wheels from summit the typical white wagon wheel 8X6.5 bolt pattern 15X8 size. The ones I ordered said they were 3.75 backspacing. Well they arrived today and all of the boxes say they are 4.25 backspacing, am I screwed. I have a dana 60 and 14FF and will be running 37 MTRs. Also does a 3.75 backspaced us wheel exist or is it a typo. Just wondering if I need to send these back or just make them work. And I dont care how much I am gonna grind so save the horror stories (that might change after I finish grinding though I will let you know).

Thanks

Ira

The only two backspacings I've seen in 15" 8 lug non-beadlock wheels are 4.25" and 2.75". However, that certainly doesn't mean other don't exist, I've never bought wheels from Summit.

Unless you're hellbent on the backspacing I don't think it'd be worth sending them back. I run 4.25" of backspacing and the first side took me about 3 hours, the second to one or one and a half.

Nope, the only wheels I've heard of getting into high steer arms are hummers that haven't been recentered but they run something like 7" of backspacing.

I dont have high steer. I thought that I read somewhere that 4.25 puts the bead on the tie rod ends on the knuckles maybe I misread if 4.25 works I will go with it. Do you have any problems with tires getting into the steering box?

Only been out on a serious run with it once so far, but didn't have any trouble with the tires getting into the box...and that's even with my hydro assist fittings sticking out a ways.

The backspacing I run puts components very near the factory tie rod mounts, but it's not close enough to be concerned about.

I bought these same rims, didn't even occur to me to read the box. It really does say 4.25" backspacing. Oh well, I only have 3/4 ton stuff, less than 30 minutes grinding a side.
