yoke swap?

I did some searching on here and found a post that said you could swap a 12 bolt yoke for a 10 bolt yoke so you didn't have to use a conversion joint but that's all it said. I checked more and found the 12 bolt seal is to small to fit a 10 bolt yoke. Would a 10 bolt seal work on a 12 bolt? Or did I get bad info to start with?

I thought the 10b and 12b used the same size u-joint anyways, no yoke swap needed.

What I do know is, I was able to swap my 10b yoke over to my 14bsf axle.
