I went to hook my driveshaft to my Dana 60 last night. The U-joint sits in the yoke perfectly, but the straps do not fit. The axle didnt come with any so I was trying to use some from a 10B and also from a 44. I didn't realize they would be different. Where can I pick some of these up at? It also seems the threads have been drilled out of the yoke, but I didn't check for clearance on the backside for nuts...maybe a yoke set up for U-bolts?

I was thinking just some straps with nuts and bolts till I get some cash to buy a nice new yoke and U-bolts.

Another wierd thing i discovered is my Banjo bolts from my 10B are too small for my 60 calipers... Thought they were the same.

My local non-chain parts house carries the straps in a kit with bolts -- it's in with the U-joints and such. I would guess that a NAPA, or a clueful Kragen/Autozone, if such exists, would have them as well.

If the threads have been drilled out, however, then, yeah, you need U-bolts, and (assuming the axle didn't come with them) is gonna be fun to get the right ones. Get thee a caliper 'cuz your measuring tape will NOT cut it.

Pretty sure all 10b banjos are 10mm; don't know about 60's.

Well I just looked at my yoke for my 60 on my other truck and it appears to have a strap/u-bolt type deal with nuts on the back side as well.:dunno:

Uhh, you mean straps instead of U-bolts, right? The only options I've seen are a flat strap formed into a half-circle, with bolts that go in from that end (into threads in the yoke) ... or U-bolts, which go around the U-joint caps, and have nuts on the back side.

For instance, Kragen lists both straps and U-bolts for a K30...

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=MCQ&MfrPartNumber=U9428&PartType=979&PTSet=A

is one variety of U-bolt, listed as 1.062" OD U-joint. There's also a 1.187" listed -- as I said, get out your caliper =))

And they stock the Dorman

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=DOR&MfrPartNumber=81002&PartType=979&PTSet=A

Then there are the straps...

and there are a variety of listings for those.

I'd steal one of the U-bolts off your other truck, see if it fits, and then get two of those. Looks like < $10 for either choice, straps or U-bolts.

D60 yokes use U-bolts, not straps and bolts. This means the Yoke will not have any threads in it since the U-bolt will go through the Yoke and have nuts on the backside.

Also if your banjo bolts are too small for the D60 then you have an early D60 which uses the same size banjo bolt as a D44 caliper. The D44 uses a 7/16" banjo bolt (.4375") and the 10 bolt uses a 10mm banjo bolt (.3937"). The early D60's used the 7/16" banjo bolt and the later D60's used the 10mm banjo bolt.

Thanks guys. Yup I answered both questions while i was gone. Went to Parts Plus and got in the books. They had the U-bolt kit and the banjo bolts:eek1: I couldn't believe it, but hopefully can make some progress here. Thanks guys good info for the archieves.

In order to use the 7/16" banjo bolts you're either going to have to change out your front brake lines OR drill the banjo fitting to accept the larger banjo bolt.

Yes, just drill out the brake line fitting from the 10mm to a 7/16" hole to fit the 7/16 banjo bolt. I do not know how much difference a 44 is from a 60, but when I did this to my 44 calipers, I also had to shorten the 7/16" banjo a little bit as its longer than a 10mm banjo bolt.

Got the driveshaft mounted up no problem at all with my snazzy new U-bolt kit.

Got the ends of my brake lines drilled out for the larger banjos.

Now I am in a seemingly never ending battle with air in the brakes. I think I may go buy a vacuum bleeder tomorrow since this is a one man operation here and the hose in a bottle of fluid doesn't seem to be working...
