York system, (update post #122)

I think I am going to abandon my idea. I am going to try to come up with a suitable location in the bed and follow your lead. Thanks for the pic's.

Do you still use the bed of your truck for hauling stuff?

Just an idea to expand on your tank mount frame. Extend the bottom horizontal rails and the feet to just on the other side of the wheel wells. One reason is that if you ever haul in plywood or such, you'll still be able to close the tailgate(if you still have it) and two, you can make mounts for other stuff out of the extra frame of the tank mount on each side of your tank next to the bed sides.

I thought about doing that, but I have a mount for my 20Lb CO2 bottle on the front side of the pass wheel-well.
I will do some measuring today to see if I can arrange it all.

I like DREMU's recommendation for a Strap On. On a side note does one find that "Sexy" or "Perverted?" :haha::haha::haha: Lots of options for straps to use, adapt, or fab up.

Well, consider that what you're strapping on is filled with air and is used to pump stuff up or to impact it. :eek1:

Now, the limited slip lube for your rear end, that, right there, is perverted

I did some figuring and came up with these "to scale" drawings.
You can see the 8" angle would work better than the 4" would but $ is the key here.
The only steel yard I have found around here won't sell partial lengths, only full sticks. If I can't find a yard that will do otherwise I guess I'll get a stick of 1" Square and build the whole thing out of that...

If you've got a welder, buy some flat stock 8" wide and weld it together to make your "V"

I do have a welder. I will probably come up with 50 more ideas before I settle on one. My brain is always going 100MPH....

That is fast enough for me.
The tards at work get me going sometimes and I feel like my head is smoking.....so I'm cool at a lowly 100 on the weekends:haha::haha:

Back to you drawing.....I've many of times used flat stock to make my own angle due to it was cheaper. And for the purpose of what your using it for, there is no structural need for formed angle, so welded flat stock would work just fine.

I don't see why you need such bloody great angle ... my tank's about the same diameter as yours, and I did fine with the 1" or so angle. :dunno:

Quick update.

I found a local distributor who will sell me the Coilhose 8923M filter for half of what Kilby sells it for!!

For those of you that have a filter in your OBA system, how did you mount the filter to a solid object?
Big hose clamps?
Chewing gum?
Duct Tape?

Here's a pretty good mount idea.

The link to this guy's thread is here. He's doing a pretty radical build to make a stock height 3/4 ton, but it's awesome for reference & some good ideas.

Later,
Buddy

updates?

i just got a york from a semi and a semi's brake-air-tank.... gonna mount the tank in the bed of the blazer tho.

I have been putting this of until I get my steering fixed.
I did get around to making the brackets for the tank though. I just bent some 1 x 1/8 strap around the tank and made it to bolt the two half's together. Have not bothered to mount the tank in the bed yet....

Are you going to run a filter? If so....how are you going to mount it?

are you talking about an air filter element for the pump? if so, i'm thinking to try to adapt one of those in-line fuel filters to it... you know, like are on gasser engines. the ones where you can see the element ontop of the manifold?... i do diesel, so i dunno what they're called.

i was also thinking i could rob an air filter assembly from a lawn mower...
