You guys who play in SAND are F'ing CRAZY!

Re: You guys who play in SAND are F\'ing CRAZY!

Damn Thunder those dunes look beautiful! Where is that?

Yeah sand can suck. Especially when it get in your gas tank and carburator float bowls. I'm finding sand from 3 years ago all over in my blazer. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Maybe those of us who play in the sand ARE a little crazy. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif /forums/images/icons/wink.gif /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif /forums/images/icons/blush.gif /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif /forums/images/icons/cool.gif /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re: You guys who play in SAND are F\'ing CRAZY!

I AM GOING TO SILVER LAKE SAND DUNES, MI THIS SATURDAY!!!! My Burban is going to tear sheet up. I never had problems with sand blowing parts out due to abraision. My second trip there I hit a patch of snow under the sand as I was going up a hill...that split the input yoke in half, bent the driveshaft, and cracked the transfer case.
I had to drive back with the front wheels, adding fluids to the transfer case every 15 miles for 70 miles going 45 mph...GOOD TIMES!

Re: You guys who play in SAND are F\'ing CRAZY!

Ryan I think that is Sand Mountain in Nevada.
It is one of the most AMAZING sites to see. Big old Sand Dunes in the middle of the NO Where. (old lake bed)

I've been there twice. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

Re: You guys who play in SAND are F\'ing CRAZY!

Only strange consistancy I got stuck in was this Muddy / Sandy water on the beach. Maybe it was this time when I was up to the frame. Don't let the cleanliness of the outside fool you, this hole was deep, I'm sitting on my frame here...

hey Bowtie, that looks just like my canal I play in when the water is down, When I saw the picture I thought it was my buddy's '85 stuck in my ruts /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

yep we are all Crazy!!/forums/images/icons/crazy.gif /forums/images/icons/confused.gif
Maybe you should throw in the towel.
I've gone through many mishaps playing in the sand.
Like being buried up to the frame.
(Thank you to all my friends for pulling me out.)
Thank you mister<the unknown guy with the strap>who helped me everytime I got stuck.
I got out of that hole and off that dune with help.
Broken most every part of my jeep.
Seen broken bones too!
I'm still learning what rugged is.
My truck has had its normal wear out of bearings, spindles and I've replaced to many u-joints.
But I've also met some of the best of friends playing in the sand.
And Iv had the best of times over many years, in the sand with my friends @ Pismo.
and I plan to spend as much time as I can there with them.
*Thanks for the sand and I will enjoy it that much more; with no wimps allowed.
So if in the pursuit of what you want as <font color="purple"> FUN </font color> , and you don't want any sand in it.
Throw in the towel now and stay away from the sand &amp; don't ever go in the mud.

Re: You guys who play in SAND are F\'ing CRAZY!

so I should just slap on some white walls?

The whole idea behind this is that I was pissed off at the time because the sand ate my stuff up. Obviously some other factors must have been present including it being a very wet climate here. I mostly wanted to blame the sand because prior to this trip many people warned me to spray down my blazer with WD-40 or the like on the underside to keep from chewing up parts. Obviously after reading all of this doesn't seem all that many people have trouble with sandy conditions.

the only towel I will ever throw in is the one full of grease into my house before I drive 7 hrs again with a couple other trucks to meet a bigger gathering and have fun again. I promise I am as crazy as the next guy. I'll try mud holes before someone with bigger tires will work the guts up. We are all F'ing crazy when it comes down to it. Going wheeling to "break stuff"....shoot if we didn't break stuff we'd have no reason to stop.

Re: You guys who play in SAND are F\'ing CRAZY!

No...No... No... NoNo... See your missing the point... You've got to go out and play in deep mud... Get completely mud covered so you look: Cool /forums/images/icons/cool.gif &amp; Like you had a lot of fun. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif Then parade around town, and in the summer when the local high school cheerleaders are having their fund raiser car washes... you drive in there and watch all of the expressions on their faces... /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif Certainly worth the $5.00 donation! /forums/images/icons/blush.gif /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif /forums/images/icons/wink.gif /forums/images/icons/cool.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Plus all of the snooty people in those clean cars want to stay out of your way, so they avoid driving next to you! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif Then you get to stay away from that other thread about the Burban becoming a Jaguar eater!

But I do agree the sand is definately fun to play in! Usually a great place to get AIR without doing damage... Even for us stock 10 bolters! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
