I get tired of the same old looking CB's . I wish the American market could take some cues form the European market ,

Check this out , DIN size , liquid crystal display , frequency read out as well as channel , memory channels , kind of like the modern "ham" rigs . Even has VOX on their CB's ..... even my 20+year old ham rig has VOX ( VOX is hands free , when you talk , the radio keys up , set it up loud if you are necking in the woods :wink1: ) . And why are we using still using AM here , when FM sounds so much better :screwy:

Good ole government involvement. CB on FM in America will never happen and not too many companies are going to spend money to update old technology.

That's why import radios are so nice. Illegal yes but worlds better than a standard CB.

They don't need to spend any money , they already make the better radios . They just don't put the good features on the radios here :thumb:

I like the look of my 79-290 -

I do too , but why did they discontinue it ?

CB'ers must of thought they didn't look like a real radio , or they don't like hard to modify and easy to screw up radios .

I might be off, but aren't the majority of CB's sold to truck drivers? Last time I checked, they weren't the most progressive group of people. Try telling one of the crusty old f'r's that their radio needs to look more European.

Yeah mostly truckers , but thats only because some kinds of people ruined the CB band .

Guys like myself who wants a nice CB for my Blazer that matches my Amatuer radios , have to really scour ebay and other sites to find the models we like . Thats my gripe .

And its not a "Euro" thing . All my amatuer radios meant for the U.S market have the frequency display , and memory channels .... Yeasu , Kenwood , Icom . Alinco .

I hate installing the same old chrome things that cost too much for what you actually get .

I didn't mod mine (and don't know how) so I really don't know how hard it is compared to other CB's. It is definitely different looking and once you get used to it its a great radio IMO.
