I voted hardcore extremist because take for instance the last trip out, I was bored when we were just cruisin down the easy stuff. I was constantly looking for something that was steep, twisty and had a chance for body damage. I do get bored when not challenged and tend to go as far as I can in 2-hi to make it more challenging for me. You can also look at my blazer, it can go just about anywhere I want to take it, and you can see that my hardcore extremist mentaility has destroyed the body.

I go as much as I can, with a stock tacoma and a winch its like playing the devils advocate. I see big holes and think "Is that tree close enough for the cable to reach?". I generally turn my hunting trips into play in the mud trips. My daughter even does the "I want you to use the winch" statement everytime we get in mud.

I used to go out a couple of times a month, sometimes more if I didn't break something, especially Spring and Fall (which is by far the best time around here). And if I wasn't wheeling it, I was working on it or on things related to it.

But then the guys I wheeled with most of the time drifted away. They got into other things, wound up in financial/family trouble, moved away, one thing or another. Lots of others around here I enjoy wheeling with, but it rarely seems to work out for one reason or another. I also ran into some "family issues" that caused trouble along with a run of really bad luck dealing with the truggy. Take it all combined and the fun just kinda drifted away. Now I can't seem to make myself get enough done to even take it out again (which might help my interest level). Every hour I work on it requires as much forced self motivation as going to the dentist. Not sure if I'll ever rekindle the enthusiasm, and I've seriously thought of getting out myself (at least out of the hard-core end), but can't bring myself to do that either... So I work on it a few hours here and there, trying to make a little progress all along, and if I don't feel like fooling with it, I ignore it.

So for now, I'm just web wheeler for the most part.

I go a couple of times a month and have progressed over time. I have alot of good buddies that are "into it" as much as I so it's alot of fun when you go with your close buddies. The group has grown over the last year and has pushed the level even further. The only problem is that what used to be fun is now boring and pushing to the next level seems to cause alot of projects and damage for that matter. I'm sorry to hear about your current state Bagdog, you always seem to have good input and experience and I can easily see my truck a truggie in a year or two, maybe longer depending on damage and pocket book. I work on car at a dealership for a living and still have no trouble working all weekend long to get the project done (I don't like having it disabled to long). My girlfriend puts up with it and she comes along on most trips which makes it better. All in all its great fun to push my driving skills to improve. I am always in the garage more than on CK5. I often think about getting a tow rig so I can stop worring about the 'A' pillar/windshield ( I have already rolled over once and putting a new cab on was a big project that I don't want to do again anytime soon). By no means do I consider myself "hardcore" at this time but hope to reach that level though time.

Im one of those people who will do it anytime but as of now the only 4x4 i own is my daily driver I learned with my first dd 4x4 that not being able to make it to work a bunch of times is bad.

this is why I am focusing on building a truggy that i can beat and beat again:D

but of course my wallet is tied up with the daily driver......
who will see some light-medium wheeling.
not much into mud anymore but i like rocks and hills!

i go out when there's a club run that my stocker can do or when i get in the mood to wheel.

but i voted naked cause the truck isn't running right now. and it's my dd. oh boy does that suck.:doah:

your said it right there brother...

while the k5 is down the honda accord gets some new scrapes on her belly.:D :doah: :cool1: It can't do anything when compared to the blazer but I'd bet I could get further in that thing on some trails then some of the mall crawlers I see around town with their armor-alled 35's:haha: :haha: :haha:

I voted extremist. If the shoe fits, wear it.

My truck is somewhat old and not my DD, so I try to wheel it when I get the chance. Also, just moved here to Louisville, there aren't many places that I know of yet to wheel, so i've spent more time wrenchin than wheelin. So I consider myself a moderate.

I love wheeling and being outside away from cities. I grew up driving offroad from our family farm... i've always had trucks to wheel since i was 11. My grandpa believed that every one should have a truck so he bought my cousin and I late 70's Chevy LUV's. and the first thing we did to them was bigger tires. But since i've joined the military there's been a lot of times i just can't go. But i try every chance i get, even taking my new truck off pavement when it had about 200 miles on. my "wheeling" truck was my wifes idea b/c she didn't want us ****in up our DD's and she loves the 2500 enough to see it not get beat up. so after the new year i'll be finishing that up to make sure it's sound as a pound.

I wheeled my stock K5 every chance I had, got stuck every time I went out just about. No harm in trying a run that doesn't swallow the truck whole! My avatar is the stock K5 (well, 32" mudders) going through a hole that left about an inch of water in the floorboards. Did that until I blew out some seals in the transmission. Did a TH400/NP205 swap and sold the truck to a friend who wanted exactly what I had. Now, I'm getting a better platform to build my wheeling rig off of. I'm hoping to keep the buildup realistic so I can actually wheel the truck within a reasonable amount of time. And the best of all, I've got two great friends who don't mind beating the crap outta their trucks, and my girlfriend doesn't mind bringing the little blazer down to park it in case we break something major :D

I voted naked because my crap hasnt been running for half a year but when it did i went everyweekend or any chance i had. Breaking stuff is just part of the game and thats what makes it interesting to me. Its a challenge to build a rig that can withstand whatever you throw at it. I generally end up on the end of a tow strap on the way home every outing because i like a challenge, but really, i dont care what im doing aslong as im "offroad".

I used to be a Hard Core Off Roader back in the 70s. I have had my 75 4X4 3-4 ft in the air many times just for fun. I also have done wheel stands at the top of hills due to it pushing me back right at the top allmost flipped a few times. I hae been in what I call float on 2 wheels on a curve where the low guy in the truck wished he was not with me. I have been buired to where the bumper is haft way in the mud and it took allmost 8 hours and 2 more trucks to get it out. I nosed dived once so hard on the bumper that the starter tore off the engine but I still finished the race. Buired a truck in the sand on the beach and just about lost my truck, I was lucky I had plywood strips and a hy-lift jack and enought time to beat the high tide! Got a 250.00 ticket that time for driving on the Clam Beds. I would total trash a truck to where nobody wanted it in around 20,000 miles. I have rolled Bajas down clifts, cars over embankments and totaled more than my share in wrecks on the road. Then one day I got this great idea that instead of trashing trucks I would 4X4 different. I now still go up steep hills but at a controled speed with just enought HP and speed to get to the top and crest the hill. Never go into mud holes, hate to clean out my drive trains and radiators of mud, water and silt. I pride myself it total control of my rigs off road and enjoy them for many years. I guess with age and having used up all my extra lives I changed. I still enjoy the sport but I also drive my rig to the place to do it and drive it home later. I got the crasy stuff out of my system in the younger days and lived to remember it. I do still get stuck in the snow once in a while! Mark H.

Dedicated. The biggest problems are usually finding others to go as often as I want to, and keeping the rig wheelable.

I 4x everytime I leave my driveway (or I don't get out) in the winter. I'm just getting my 91 V2500 up to snuff for bigger and better things. But with many rugrats it becomes a juggle. Luckily they dig it-wheelin and shootin
When I go to work I get to cruise around the backroads(Forest Service, Logging, etc.) by veh., atv, sled, or horse. I couldn't imagine working within four walls.
Allen, seen you're site. I'd like to check out some of the activites this coming year. I'm in Republic. Been up your way before to see some buds in Metaline.

To be honest,,,,really honest.:D
Definatly minimal stock wheeling, lol,if none at all right now. No big tires slinging over here yet,:haha: as i am still getting it together, i did alot of things i have to completely start over on for it to be what i want, because of the year of my truck kills the deal for me,( ca smog laws)

Eventually to have a streetable and wheelable
smog exepmt 73-75 blazer,
with a MPFId bbc with a stand alone programable and computer tunable /upgradable/downloadable injection system ,
dynatrck high pinion axles ,or some custom made front AND rear high pinion axles,
manual ,with a sweet doubler setup,ETC ETC ETC
IS what im DREAMING about in the end :haha: :D
But i have to start from scratch,,,

The dedication level is something i cant let go of,though, even though its way way way something i cant afford right now. I just cant the little image i have in my mind go.

Dedication level over long term=10!!!

Actually going getting and building something , right now= 00000.0:D

,i realized i dont want what ive got , i want something else with no regulations:wink1:

45k worth of goodies basically :haha: but im here lol :D

i go as often as i can- truck and money permitting. if i dont have anyone to go with (most of the time) i keep it mild and just play to be out doors and see the view. if i have people with me then ill push it and see what i can get away with (skill and truck set-up)
