so tell me what your favorite tools are, the ones you use the most, the ones that do the best job and the ones that you think all of us should have

:waytogo:

1/2" IR impact gun no question, makes just about everything easier (especially setting up gears)

I've used my 4.5" grinder a ton as well, that's a good one too ;)

BFH, 4.5" grinder, my hands and my brain, and a coozy

1. Dewalt 4.5" angle grinder with the blade protector removed and a thin cut off wheel!
2. 110 powered miller 130 welder, good for up to 1/4 inch and 3/8" if you work it right
3. 1/2" inch 2 speed electric drill with hammer drill feature
4. BFH
5. "tool number five is misplaced in my mind right now"

Angle grinder is very useful, for cutting, grinding, fitting, clean up, paint and rust removal.

I hate hate hate air powered cut off wheels, they lack the grunt and are annoying.

I would say that the hand tools I use the most are:
1. Combination wrench set
2. ball peen hammer

and for power tools it is definitely the 4.5" angle grinder.

The tool I enjoy using the most is my new Lincoln 180 mig:)

Old favorite general tool was my maglight. One of my newer favorites is my $10 clip on head light that goes on my hat. It freaking rocks. Parties in teh dark, working under teh dash, working on the truck at night....

Just doesn't pound in tent stakes as well as the old maglight.

big and small angle grinder
die grinder
oxy/acetylene
miller 252 welder
bender (not some thing I feel everyone needs, but a fav nonetheless)
micro turn wrenches
plasma cutter

My entire snap on tool box with snap on tools................"there is a difference"

4.5" angle grinder is another good one.

I'm loving my new band saw for bracket making.

Plasma cutter and of course my welders

Air tools just make life easier.

1. 1/2" impact
2. 3/8" air ratchet
3. ratcheting wrenches
4. breaker bar
5. pry bar
6. 4.5 grinder
7. sawzall

I'm sorry. A big flat-head screwdriver is the most flexible tool you can own; with two of them, you don't even need a hammer 'cuz you can fit one with the other :haha:

It's the whole thing about "There's the right tool for the job, the wrong tool, and then there's what's in your hand."

my favorites:

grinder (4.5 and/or 7)
porta band (use mine for every project)
impact 1/2 drive (If you dont have one of these, get one now)
prybar (many uses, a must need)

my favorite special tools:

bearing and gear pullers
u-joint/balljoint press
torque wrench

I work in a body shop and not a day goes buy that I dont use my snap-on fork tool and my snapon ratchiting screwdriver set. they were kinda on the high side price wise but it is the best money I ever spent.

I take that back. My favorite tool is the knife i carry in my pocket. Its a gerber non stick 1/2 serrated blade (came from an old gf, but thats not important). Not more than a $25 knife, but i use it constantly. I work in an office all day, and probably whip it out 10+ times a day, easy. Guess being in construction helps it be ok to use a knife as a staple pull. :) Either way, i use the dam thing all the time, for EVERYTHIGN
