‘75 Fullvert Blazer- K5 Cody’s build- 8.1 swap***C10’s in the park*** Back to assembly.

Restomod build for a late friend
Power washed the intake and oil pan. Intake is ok-ish, but the oil pan is terrible. I’ve got some aluminum acid spray coming that @Truckman4life recommended, but that won’t be here until Thursday.

Started cleaning bolts and painting them with some VGG rebuild black.

I then spent some time rebuilding the water pump. I would normally buy a new one, but being a Kodiak, I’ve found these aren’t cheap or easy to get. This one feels and sounds nice so I’ll try my luck.

What is different about the water pump on a Kodiak? That look like mine
They are either taller or shorter I believe. The medium duty trucks run a different location for the belt. Like either closer or further from the block than the passenger applications.

That pulley does appear to be deeper than mine.

Yeah the frame on med duty is made for many different engines, mostly inline 6. Putting a v8 in would leave a long way to the rad and shroud

That at least looks like a light medium duty ps bracket. It uses a normal Saginaw pump vs the heavier trucks using a massive ZF pump.

Wes the med duty/workhorse/g-van brackets do take specific matching water pump and balancer since it does away with the secondary ac belt setup.

You are correct. The PS and alt brackets came from Russell in Canadia

This is the bracket that came with this Kodiak donor. It’s a ZF/Allison 2000 next to the one I’m using.

I’d keep that medium duty one around. The ZF pump would be complete overkill to run with a full hydro steering setup and hydro boost brakes on something like your dedicated wheeling rig.

So you are saying keep it for a street/tow rig?

If your Saginaw pump fails it’s a good option though the downside is you would have to completely redo the plumbing as the line sizes are a lot bigger.

Ok I’m in love with this super satin black by Columbia coatings paired with duplicolor Chevy red-orange. The welding teacher showed me how to set everything up so I can powder coat during the summer while school is out. Plan is to get some white for the wheels and who knows what else.

Also spent some time tonight on the tedious stuff. Wire wheeled the valve cover bolts. Now waiting for the new grommets and gasket kit.

Wish mine didn't. 150k on it now uses @1 quart every 6 tanks. I should have done it when I did the intake gaskets
