‘75 Fullvert Blazer- K5 Cody’s build- 8.1 swap***C10’s in the park*** Back to assembly.

Restomod build for a late friend
Yeah I don't even bother ordering things like that since they are so easily damaged. I'd rather pay a bit more to get it through a local parts store so that they can deal with the damage and returns. I'm rural and have no easy access to a UPS store or other places for doing returns.

Uh-oh, I went thru the same thing with the crew cab. 3rd time was a charm. Technically it still had damage, but it was mostly superficial and no leaks.

So I’m ordering some bushings for the front springs. These are the only markings on the aftermarket fronts. Anyone have any idea what brand these are? I know that when ordering ORD’s bushings they specifically ask if they are Superlift or Skyjacker.

The front spring eye measures around 1.5” and the rear eye is just a hair under 1.25”.

I was thinking one of the big differences is the width of the springs.

These springs are 2.5” wide, which is pretty normal for most aftermarket springs I do believe.

Well went downstairs looking for parts, and ran across a package I forgot I had from years ago. It was a “52 spring swap kit” I bought from jekbrown. Sure enough it has everything I needed.

Had to cut a couple bolts that were seized in the sleeves, but other than that everything went smooth. The old bushings, or what was left of them, had the texture and strength of crayons. It took everything I had not to try and eat it…

Text drive went super smoove. This thing is really starting to impress me with the ride quality. And it flexes way better now. No more popping and creaking.

So last night I decided to tune on my carb just a bit. After adjusting the idle, I pulled my hand back to close the hood and some how managed to catch the cooling fan. Other than some missing tips and a bruised ego, I got extremely lucky.

So after that I decided it was time to pull the top off and see what damage was under it.

More there than I thought there would be, but nothing that’s going to be impossible to fix.

But the reward for pulling the top was way more worth it! It is so much fun to drive this thing!

I barely caught a finger on the fan one time. It's one of those "that could have been very, very bad" heart stopping moments. Glad you didn't get it worse.

One time in the jet boat over 20 years ago the alternator belt was slipping. So I got out the toolbox and adjusted the belt, put the tools away made one last "check" of the belt tension, yep, nice and tight, shouldn't slip, right at that exact moment my brother hit the key to start it thinking I was done. I yanked my finger out, but it was too late, my finger ended up as the prybar between the belt and the crank pulley to pry the nice and tight belt right off, the engine didn't start because I yelled and he immediately turned the key off. That hurt something fierce, I looked down and the belt was laying on the bottom of the boat, and I looked at my throbbing finger and saw blood flowing so much I couldn't see where it was coming from. Turns out the crank pulley crushed right through my fingernail, all the way across, right in the middle of it. So all the blood was coming out through the middle of my fingernail. It didn't feel too good, my hand was shaking and throbbing as I was trying to assess the damage, but I kind of got lucky too, that belt was tight, could of been much worse.

Thursday night I decided to pull the whool cover off the passenger seat and get it mounted. Was pretty pleased when I saw the top pad/fabric in great shape. Cleaned it up a little and mounted it and tossed some beach towels on the bottom for now. Also fix the glove box hinge and slapped it back in the dash.

After a short victory ride with the wife, we came back home and immediately started smelling fuel. Turns out the short ride knocked a rust flake loose and the tank started leaking
