‘75 Fullvert Blazer- K5 Cody’s build- 8.1 swap***C10’s in the park*** Back to assembly.

Restomod build for a late friend
Found a basically free pair of military wheels to match the front 2. My dad borrowed the white ones to get a new to him Blazer home and I still have them back yet.

Been driving it daily for 2 weeks now and not a ton of issues.

Went and picked up some lumber 2 nights ago. Also started replacing door seals and working on the little things inside.

Also snagged a proper keychain fit it.

Well, I’m a glutton for punishment. Also, I’m not happy with the 305 as I anticipated. Having my 8.1 swapped Jimmy has ruined me. So that being said, my brother offered to let me snag his extra 8.1 and buy him a replacement when the right deal came along. So the parts gathering has started, and once my shop is up I’ll start the 8.1 swap! Stay tuned for some picture updates after this weekend.

That didn’t take long. Same thing with this 12 valve for the suburban. Lookin mighty fine I tell ya.
I knew the 305 was temporary, and I knew the next setup was going to be EFI. So basically this 305 is going to get me through the summer and getting to enjoy it.

All these small blocks on thin ice these days. One misfire and you’re getting pulled.
Ironic you say that. The 305 left me on the side of the road today. It decided it was too hot outside, and simultaneously boiled the fuel and melted a vacuum plug. That one took a few minutes to figure out.

My small block in the suburban had been complaining from day one when I bought it and I said no biggie I have a 7.4 waiting when it fails, the ticking never got worse, even though I didn't change the oil for 7 years, eventually it got so low on oil I had to put 3 quarts.
Went another 3 years and finally the radiator was leaking too much, so I grabbed one from my pile and forgot I had pulled it from a truck with bad transmission, I went to work and barely made it back home, transmission was toast in all gears by the time I got home.
So it's been sitting without a transmission and in the meantime I got an 8.1 so some day

I am probably undiagnosed, so this question may be stupid.

I have a new tank that I tossed in this truck when I started driving it the first time a few years ago. So my question is, can I just run an efi pump in tank if I swap the sender? I know there’s no baffles in the tank so I was planning on running a baffle mat to make up for that.

Harness shipped yesterday. Now to continue the parts shopping.

Currently in the market for some 75-80 cooling parts for a 454/400 application. Upper bracket, radiator, and shroud.

@ZooMad75, what are you and Larry running for engine mounts? I have Kert’s DIY poly on my Jimmy, but didn’t know if there was a noticeable difference running a stock style instead of poly. I’ve heard you get more engine vibrations from the poly mount, but I don’t have anything to compare that to on my Jimmy. I don’t mind feeling the vibrations of the engine as I feel like you have a better idea of how it’s running.
