I swapped a 454 into my old 78 short box and got better mileage than the 350 that was in it.
Still not good… but better.

The plan was to swap in this 4L80 as soon as I blew up the 700r4, but the joke has been on me that it’s still holding up 200% longer than the rear driveshafts lol
Thanks! The bench is factory in the ‘79 C20. The other is a ‘00 Silverado.
Back on the green Blazer for a bit today. Replaced the battery tray and supports with new from LMC. Good fitment.
The heat has set in for the summer. 110° heat index today with 70% humidity. Spent a little more time in the shop tossing on accessories and cleaning up the intake and some other small aluminum parts. Need to wash the radiator and at least paint the side tanks so it doesn’t look nasty. Mocked up the shroud and upper radiator bracket to make sure everything lines up good. Also need to snag a fan and clutch assembly. Probably going to toss the wiring harness on before I get too many more parts in the way and make it more difficult on myself.

Snuck out for about 45min tonight. Humidity is absolutely awful even at 8:30pm. Soaked my shirt but got the manifolds on.
I’ll follow up with this screen shot showing the humidity at 5am. Why do I live here?
I see a large hole in your radiator hose.
It’s a blueteeth hose. It allows the coolant to air cool before heading into the radiator.
Looks to me like there’s enough moisture in the air that make hoses unnecessary.
