‘76 K10 SWB Silverado "Pops"- Off to its new home!

Mostly stock rebuild.
Huh, I never knew that.

Well at least I know that's not my run issue lol.

I'll start with plugs and a fuel filter tonight and see what happens.

Mine was pass side close to the trans tunnel and back kind of under the front part of the seat.

This is the valve that was in mine.

my dad has that same valve in a 1969 Ford F250. he added the tank himself. don't you guys think maybe someone before might have modified it? I doubt if the factory put that valve in

btw, doors for the gas tanks didn't start until 1979 year model

Yeah for sure not factory installed.

So a couple questions:

1. Does the 20 gallon fit right in to the short bed? Or is it 16 gallon only?

2. Do I need to replace the fuel pump? Or just clean it out?

Go with plastic tanks or now would be a good time for a blazer tank swap. I hate the dual tank setup on squares and having to fill from opposite sides.

Do I want the blazer tank though? I really don't want to fill the tank in the bed, and it would take some creativity to keep it in the factory hole up front, or move the hole to the rear of the bedside. Plus you are talking about a $80 replacement for tank and sender, or $300 for the blazer swap plus body work.

I think the best route for now is to throw in the 16 gallon tank just to get it on the road. Then later on I will swap in the blazer tank and move the hole to the rear of the bedside. I just hate to do the work to move the fill hole on a bedside that will most likely get replaced later on due to rust.

Sounds like a good plan. Me personally I would just put an in bed tank in and make it work. LOL. One of my old squares had a 32 gallon square shaped steel tank out a medium duty truck mounted in the bed and then just connected the hoses down through the floor to the factory lines. Even had a stick for checking fuel level.

I'm going to try my best to not have this be that kind of build this time around lol.
