‘76 K10 SWB Silverado "Pops"- Off to its new home!

Mostly stock rebuild.
The 2 bolt but made for 4 bolt thing is funny! A fine example of an OEM saving a couple cents each on those 2 bolts and so someone thought it was a good idea to not use them.

Yeah, the bean counters at GM were tightwad pricks!..
They ruined a lot of things that would have been better ,like the 6.2's cast cranks and die cast thermostat housings on them, and most all their engines.....to name but a few..
I wonder just how much they saved by not drilling and tapping 2 holes and two lousy bolts...

Swapped the gasket and adjusted the idle air screws. Truck idles like it should now.

Now back to this stupid fuel gauge.

Can I pull the cluster as one unit? I can’t remember how it comes out.

It comes out in one piece.

Don’t forget to unhook the cable for the shift indicator.
You know that's already broken lol.
Or the speedo cable!
Yeah I think it was the cable that was holding me back. I'm just trying to get to the plug on the back of the cluster to see if it's loose.

Normal for that indicator to be focked.
Speedo and harness can be a prick too! Lol!

It would be super helpful to be the size of a 4 year old girl to work on the dash.

So I went and put about 14 gallons in the truck tonight, and the gauge started working again. So that sounds like it's more of a sender issue than anything else. Also messed with the idle mixture screws a bit and it's running really well. Hopefully that gas gauge issue gets figured out by itself.

Man I like driving this thing.

I make excuses to drive the C10 places. I've told my wife that if she wants me to run an errand just make sure it's something I can drive the C10 for. She just needs to say "Can you take your pickup to go get....."

My wife hasn't figured that out yet.
