‘82 GMC “Junkyard JIMMY” {Build bash Rebuild}

Front driver side again. I've never broken a rear on that rock. I think my hub lock maybe broken too.

You should ask for a set of one ton axles as a wedding gift instead of all the stupid plates and silverware that you normally get when you get married. I'm sure your fiancee will agree that this is the only logical course of action and will support your desicion 100%.

Did you read Martins thread about that? Best wedding gift ever!

I found a K30 diesel on CL with a blown tranny. That would be a great start!

Out of all the stuff that "we" got at our wedding, the only item that was directed towards me was a plastic salsa bowl. No parts truck or anything like that. If I had it do over again... I would DEMAND a broke down K30 for parts or else I would call the whole thing off. No deal.

Man I hope my wife doesn't somehow get on this site and read this.:1zhelp:

Kelly's cool shell let you have ONE thing you like. Suzy let me build the AR-15 I've been wanted for the past 3 years with wedding gift money.

She mentioned that when we register we will set it up so people can pitch in on the honeymoon if they want.
We're going to Belize.

She asked how I broke the shaft again. I told her I either need smaller tires or bigger axles. She said "well we know you not getting smaller tires" , and reminded me of how many axles I've pulled and never brought one home.:D

Since I started letting her drive she seems more interested in the next upgrades.

I hope my buddy who's building a 13BFFFS gives me a good price on his old worn out D-44. :D

Stupid licesne plate. That's probably what caused the friction that got you hung up and caused the other stuff to break.

I really like your rear bumper. I can't remember, but didn't you build it yourself out of plumbing pipe? Or was that someone else?

That rock has beat me every time license plate or not. Did you see the videos I posted a while ago?

I used 1.50 x .90 wall tube

I designed & cut the steel for the rear bumper, my friend welded it up for me.
I followed the stock design except I didn't want to wrap the rear corners. I tried to match the shape of the body on the ends where I put tabs for a whip & firestik.

For pics see pg1 post 10, and pg2 post 12.

That's not the first license plate that was lost.

The thing I don't like about it is since I didn't wrap the corners there is a small gap behind the rear 1/4 and the bumper. I got a boulder wedged in there and got stuck. Not really stuck like get the yank strap out just a little ha ha look at that moment.

I've also bent the tubes a few times rock crawling so I went back and put a support to the end of the tube similar to the stock design, just stronger.
I had to tie it to the tube bender which is anchor bolted to the concrete and yank it straight -er.

Thanks :D

quick question

I think I feel good enough to hit the junkyard today.

What vehicle should I pull the pitman arm from to install on my 2wd box for Hi steer?

I've heard maybe a Heep wangoneer, or a Ferd truck?

What say ye brothers?

Also I think I need a new steering column. My tilt moves in all directions.:doah:

I recently heard it suggested that you should use the pitman arm from a Chevy Astro van because it points forward and will allow you more clearance between the oil pan and the drag link and tie rod. I think that was for someone with front 52s though. I'm not sure if you can clock the Astro pitman arm either. Just a thought.
