‘82 GMC “Junkyard JIMMY” {Build bash Rebuild}

Stupid update :doah:

I went to 4 junkyards and can't find a 28 spline 10 bolt front driver shaft. I broke every one in So Cal. :haha:

...it's way past time to beef up.

And as for Roger Dodger - I saw a dodge dana 44 and it looked tiny! checked the ring gear numbers and wasn't clear but pretty sure they were 3.23's.
I was in a hurry I had 1 hour to tear apart a 10 bolt front and check the dodges gear rations.

I'm going back this weekend, it's 1/2 off at Ecology . I need to scalp a roof and repair some rust damage.

Im gunna check out my local ecology this weekend too!

Update time.

I finally found some axle shafts and fixed the broken front.

As for the leaking t-case seal. I went to work on it and noticed all of the bolts were backed out to a finger loose torque. :doah:

I tightened them up and the leak stopped. Imagine that!

I bought some of the right stuff so I can fix it properly but if it don't leak I'm not going to pull it out.

My hands are cramping for some reason, my left hand especially. I can hardly hold a wrench right now.

I selling the Pwagon to YellowK20. I even chopped a roof from the junkyard to repair it where it's rusted.

I'm itchin to go wheelin. -That's all I got to say about that-

I'm not sure yet. My Bachelor party is this weekend. All extra funds are going to the big destination wedding.

If anything I can go to Corral Canyon OHV trails.

I'm going to take it easy for a little while.

I might put my 10 bolts, Tires & wheels up for sale.

going 3/4 ton

Finally I took the first step to upgrade my axles.

I came home with a Dana 44 8 lug set up for high steer with a Spartan locker and 3.73:1 gear rations.

...and a soft top. :D

My plan are to keep the tires and set it up for 15" rims. That means disk brakes in the rear.

I know you're not running 3.73 in the rear are you? If so, now would seem like a good time to go 4.56 in both axles I think.

So when is the big day?

I ran the wire wheel on her and gave her a little RustKill black.

I am running 4.56 rations in the 10 bolts. I like it on the trail but it sucks balls on the highway. I want to be able to drive to the trail w/o feeling like it's about to explode.

This is a low budget must be running at all times build bash rebuild.

I plan to find a junkyard 14 bolt w/ 3.73's and get a locker for it. Disk brakes so I can keep my Krawlers. I don't use the parking brake and it will be in the way of the cage anyway.

It's going to take some time. I might hit the trail a few times before I get done.

The big day is June 22nd down on the beach in Playa Del Carmen MX.

3.73 was a pretty common ratio for the 3/4 ton 14 bolt I think. I don't think you'll have any problem scoring one with disc brakes that will bolt right up, especially with your junkyard scrounging skills. You know what to do if your RPM is too high on the road? Add bigger tires. :D

Congrats again on your wedding dude. It's going to be awesome and I'm sure you and the future wife will be happy for many years to come.

Strangely, here anyways, I have yet to find a 14 bolt with a 3.73 rear end in it. The factory option was 4.10s, had to be special ordered with the 3.73/4.56s (keep in mind civi models, not CUCVs) So, around here atleast, they are not all that common. Not saying they are an aluminum 427 only found in 69 1969 camaros, but a 4.10 rearend will be more common.

3.73's are common here. Disk brakes on 3.73's are not.

I would love a doubler but its not in the budget yet.

...gear rations.
