get settled so we can do some wheeling.
So uh...
California DMV.
Mother Fuickers.....
Yep, welcome to the fun.....or welcome back I guess. Did you ditch the smog equipment or are you failing the tailpipe test?
I’m registered diesel, no emissions problems.
I waisted a day with the wife.
I couldn’t change my ID b/c I didn’t have any official mail yet.
On the Towyota I passed SMOG and they inspected the VIN but wouldn’t give me a tag b/c I had a California title & Texas registration.
I had to get ahold of the Texas DMV and have them send me a letter saying it was registered only.
Why would I transfer my title if I didn’t sell it?
As for the JIMMY. I had to call the Texas DMV again for the same reason and get another letter.
I was talking to the VIN verification lady & she wants to see the VIN on the dash and on the door.
I told her I don’t have the original doors. She said she needs to see 2 VIN stamps and I should put the old doors back on before I bring it up there.
I say she can read the one on the dash and the other in the glove box.
And the Trailer too I bought it in Texas and hauled it here on a sales tag. I gave BIg Tex my new address for the title & registration. Well they decided to send it to my old house.
Luckily the Title was forwarded here but I never got the tags & registration.
In order to register it here I need the title and previous registration.
Now I have to fill out a form and send it back to Texas so they can replace my brand new tags just so I can go to the DMV here and turn them in.
So yea, they suck.
Awesome build, I read all the pages took me a while
question for you Paul what kind of lights are you running on your tube bumper., I'm looking for something similar to add to mine.
I have a 76 as a DD and working on my daughters first car (83 k5) when she goes to college I may keep it
Awesome build to you again
Memo
Get some speedy stitcher from REI and sew it yourself...its a wax based string and easy to do. HF has a similar needle setup but not wax based string. Id do it from the inside so the seam cant be seen from the outside.
I got the DIY4X Dark forces ram to replace my cheap surplus one. The stroke is shorter than my current one and it’s specifically designed for a high steer set-up.

Also I finally got my bump stops. I already have the cans for them. I think I have a good plan for mounting them. We’ll see real soon...
I can’t wait to see how much better the front end is going to feel.
Wooohoo bumps!!!
