‘83 C10 4spd Scottsdale-Gone but not forgotten. New replacement loading...

Mild restoration build to use as a truck should be used.
I had that trouble and I couldn't get the damn line to not kink so I ended up putting a braided line on it. In my case it was the return line so it was causing really high fuel pressure. I found it by shining a flashlight up between the frame rail and the tank. When I lowered the tank I couldn't tell it was kinking.

This was on the crew cab with the EFI so I have a fuel pressure gauge. Been thinking I should put a gauge on the 73 too for reasons like you're running into and I've had.
Yeah, I might recruit the help of my skinny armed 6yr old to feel around up there lol.

That's pretty much exactly how I spotted mine.
Yeah, I rolled under with my creeper and saw it almost immediately. I was mad for not finding it the other day.

But, at least I did get the fuel system corrected and got a clean filter in there. Now it should run even better and be smooth sailing from there...….right...….

I was a little irritated about the kinked line because I felt like new hoses that had plenty slack shouldn't kink. Maybe it's hung up on something and you could try poking it to see if it will pop loose.

Well so that's what I did on my lunch. Seemed to want to go right back to where it was. I can tell it's not caught on anything, maybe it's just too short? I was able to drive it back to work, but it started surging when I got a block away from work like it's still kinked. But when I looked under it seemed fine. I think i'll drop the tank and maybe throw my braided line on there and be done.

It could kink if you had it at the right twist when you tightened the clamps so that when you raised the tank it kinda twisted more and kinked. Not likely but maybe. I'd change the pump and the other rubber hoses and blow it all out and see what happens.

Now that makes 100% sense. That's why it wants to spring right back to where it was. I went and took a picture, and that's exactly what it looks like.

Probably can't reach up there to loosen the clamp and release the twist on the hose either I'm guessing.

Well I didn’t cut the bed floor. In fact after I cleared some crap out of it, I found a rust free floor. So I dropped the tank again. This time I just tilted the front of the tank down and was able to reach the line. Found the main feed line was actually kinked in 2 different spots. So I decided to run braided line to help with that issue. Bolted it all back together in about 45 min and went for a decent test run. No more fuel issues.

The two circled areas are the kinks. No bueno.

That braided black hose is nice stuff. I used to get some like it from my local Napa when I lived in Moab. It was real nice quality but still able to use hose clamps with it.

I buy it in bulk off of ebay. You have to watch out what buyer you get it from, as some of the stuff is not as good. But I got like 25ft for $20 last time. It's nice to have it sitting around.

Been driving this off and on over the week. It’s been 100* most of the week so usually just short evening trips. Still haven’t used half of a tank, so that’s nice. Went and picked up my parent’s dogs yesterday and they promptly pissed on my nice bench seat. At least it’s vinyl and easy to clean.
