“Dylan’s” 89. Back at it!

First engine build in the books. That was a lot of fun. Ready to go another.

Only hiccup was the rear main seal. The kit the machine shop provided came with a piece of crap that’s a pain in the @SS to put on. We screwed it up and luckily O’reillys actually had one in stock. The new one was a felpro. That little plastic disc made all the difference. Took about 2 minutes to get her on.

What is everyone’s general concensus on going hydroboost?

The reason I’m considering it is because the power steering pump that came with the motor is setup for hydroboost. So its just another one of those, might as well things.

Got the entire fuel system ordered to put in this weekend but something got screwed up and haven’t gotten everything :surepal: Screwed up my plans.

So I went and got a new toy and got the trans mission all mocked up to measure for a crossmember. I can only imagine how big of a pain in the @SS that could’ve been without that jack!

Think I got everything leveled pretty close to where it should be. I got the trans at around 1-2 degrees bc the frame is about 1-2 degrees forward tilt. There’s no gas tank or bumpers so that should make everything level out later, no?

Today’s deliveries.

Taking a chance on a cheap Chinese radiator but it looks good and had some pretty decent reviews; lifetime warranty and CHEAP! Ha

This should work out nice. I wanted a somewhat stock look and didn’t want to be able to see the shifter cables. Drilled some new holes in the mounting brackets, and made a backing plate to go under the floor. Just gotta find some kind of rubber to seal the floor back up for that nice clean look.

Also here are my ghetto fabbed radiator brackets. A vice, hammer and grinder can do wonders.

those shifters are baller but why not go with the upgraded knobs with the etched positions?

The knobs were $72 I think and I had a limited budget. Plus I’m thinking I want something a little taller than the JB knobs. Lost a little height mounting the shifters this way.

New knobs will be in the future though.

They’re $45 IIRC however I understand the shifter length concern.

You may be right on price. I just knew they weren’t important at the time. Definitely nice though.

Yeah it’d be nice to get some about 4” long with a little bit of angle towards the driver.

You can heat up the levers and bend them, I’ve had to do it for another application using Jon’s levers.
