“Dylan’s” 89. Back at it!

89 Jimmy 6.0/4l80e/MAGNUM 205/d60/14bolt
Can’t believe this is actually gonna work. I was worried the shifters wouldn’t clear the console or the shifting mechanism on the magnum, but it all just squeaked by. The shifter housing has a little adjustment to it, so I just gotta fine tune that, cut off a few screws and tighten it all down. It’s tight as hell in there but looks like it’ll get the job done. I’ll probably get some rattles from it all though

What length cables did you get?

60” but they’re a little short. The bends are tighter than what JB conversions recommends. Gonna run it for now. Shifts fine but they may wear out after awhile.

Thanks, I ordered the 60” also. My sticks are going to sit farther back between the seats and up higher, so hopefully the length works out.

@chris85 I forgot to post up Sunday, the trip got bumped to tomorrow (Tuesday). I’ll be rolling through around lunch for steel and going by a book store for my wife and daughter. Drive the blazer to work so we can see it. :D

Oh HA HA! You would actually be able to see it from I20. We park in the garage right by the ER

Sorry I never hollered at you today, someone’s wife spent too long st her favorite book store so we were running behind.

I really got a fire lit under me after this weekend meetings some awesome CK5’ers. The last 2 days have been real downers. I’ve been waiting on the driveshaft, and I had just been itching to get in the garage but the work schedule just would not allow it..... I’ve been a grumpy SOB lately.

But it’s here and in and I already did something stupid. :doah:

So it got here and I unboxed it and marveled at the awesomeness, then threw it back in the box to go in and eat, came back out and grabbed the slip yoke to pull it out and pulled it right off the shaft. Now I don’t know how it’s balanced and I don’t see any markings anywhere. I’m sure y’all or Tom Woods has an easy solution.

Also I’ve been waiting to make this post, but I need to give a big thanks to @TuckerK5. This dude just texts me out of the blue several months and asks if I need driveshafts, “sure do”. So he won some gift certificates at Blazer Bash that he couldn’t use and just gave them to me. Would not accept any payment or anything. That’s what the CK5 community is about! I hope I can return the favor one day.

Got to meet Brian and his grandson this weekend finally and we had a blast along with @nvrenuf @Hosalabad @83ChevyK5Blazer! Looking forward to many more trips like this with these people!

Some yokes have a keyed or missing spline, some don't.

Either way the yokes need to be in phase at each end (parallel). So try it one way, if it vibrates rotate it 180 and try it again.

If there are any weighs welded onto the yoke then put them on the same side as the weights on the shaft to start.

It looks to me like you have it slightly out of phase from the picture?.....

Also, the grease zerk on the slip yoke was on the "sticker" side in your first picture.

So if you do those two things you should be back the way it was...

So what's left on the to-do list to get it running for a test drive?
