I don't have all those options b/c I don't have a pressure sensor wired in. The sensor is disabled in hp tuner, so I'd have to guess that's why I don't have the same settings available. I was a couple degrees off earlier in my description.

The fan runs when the a/c clutch is engaged, but the harness was originally done by speartech. Fan #2 is set up as serial cycling when a/c is on and has tps and rpm limits set.

Any luck with the fans / overheating issue?
 
Ok. We got the fans to come on. But it’s still getting hot at idle. He noticed before ever cranking that the sensor was reading 140. The truck sits out in the sun right now but I wouldn’t think it would be that hot just sitting. The saga continues

Turns out the fan 2 fuse just had a bad connection :doah:but we still changed some parameters.
 
Dash matches laptop? How about tempmof radiator
In and out?

Also agree that it’s not 140F at rest.
 
Separate temp gauge or IR temp gun versus the sensor reading
I vote separate gauge. I find ir not very accurate for determining coolant temp. It is good at finding temp differences but not actual number. At least in my experience.
 
Just to make it more cunfusled, the LT swap we just did has a summit electric gauge and it almost exactly matches the ect reading up to 180. After that it skews off. 210 on the gauge = 189 ect.
 
I plugged a port on passenger side block when I went to Dakota digital. If I remember right, it has a funky size. 12mm or something. Not a common size but one of the cheapy gauges at the auto parts store had an adapter that size. If I remember right, I ended up cutting down a bolt and usiing a brass crush washer.
 
You could always try one of those radiator caps with a thermometer in it... :dunno:
 
I argue the other way.

IR lets you check anywhere throughout the system which is good for finding potential problems clogs in heater cores or radiators. You do have to be careful because certain surfaces will give a false reading. Painted things, rubber, polished things and more can throw a false reading.

Plus they are useful for so many other things.
