“Dylan’s” 89. Back at it!

89 Jimmy 6.0/4l80e/MAGNUM 205/d60/14bolt
A seal that isn’t sealing...Like not even close.

You can see the gap between the flange and the seal. Guess I got the front and rear mixed up. Didn’t know they were different sizes.

Oh ok. At first I thought the flange wasn’t in the seal like maybe the nut was off and it moved outward.

Yeah, I can't believe you didn't paint that bolt head...it's embarassing Carl. ;)

At least it's an easy fix with the seal.

:haha: I guess the embarrassing part is that I slipped that flange in and out a dozen times or more probably and it just never registered. Like you said easy fix, and a CHEAP lesson learned.

More good news! Seals fixed the last little bit of leaking! The magnum is still blowing crap out of the vent tube but that’ll stop eventually.

Made it for a 24 mile ride. Engine temp never got about 190-200. Trans temp never got over 170. I had to have been cruising at around 60-70 mph and she rode smooth and straight. Fuel pump is kind of starting to sound like it wants to die but we’ll cross that road when we get there. It could be alternator which would be the very last original part in the motor to be replaced. All set for a 100+ mile trip to our new stomping grounds!

100 miles? Are you going to be anywhere close to lucedale?

Oh ok, I was thinking 100 miles would take you further. I need to get out more. lol

Oh yeah, it’ll do fine.

I was just wondering how close you’d be because of that hitch but it can ride to Stony.

Not sure what to do with these brakes. Put in a 99 3500 master cylinder and it works great other than the brakes won’t hold on a steep grade such as my driveway. It kind of feels like the pedal bottoms out before MC has built up full pressure. Thought about just swapping out pads. No telling what all kind of crap they got on them over the last 2 years

Is your rod that actuates the master cylinder the right length allowing the piston in the master to travel far enough?

Sounds too me like you need to bleed them some more, the pads aren't going to fix that. Sounds like air in the lines or a hydraulic issue. Sometimes it takes a while to bleed the rear.

Is it a hydroboost unit? Because the pedal assembly is different than the vac booster.

It’s not. I just found the brake bible in pirate and think that shed some light.

This MC is just too big it’s the 1.5” bore. It produces more volume but not enough pressure. The stock 1 1/8” bore would’ve made more pressure but it didn’t move enough volume. So I have a 1.25” bore coming. Hopefully that’ll be the sweet spot. I already had one of these in but it was the one that had the jacked up threads and would never bleed. Got an AC Delco coming this time. 5th times a charm!

It’s still a bit confusing to me how moving more volume does not mean more pressure but it obviously does.
