Errrrrrr...dunno if 4Wheel Farts is better now but they have a long history of crapiness and sleaziness that earned them a poor reputation. YMMV though.
What kind of suspension you going for?
Doing anything with a traction adder while they're regearing?
Tires...I like muds but you probably don't need them. Pick your favorite AT? Maybe one of the newer style aggressive AT's so you can have a bit more bite?

A set of General Tire Grabbers would be awesome on that and they are designed for desert fun.... if for some reason I lost my mind and decided not to buy American i would own a Tundra, they seem to be great rigs...

I'm gettin' the Grabbers.
If you keep up on scheduled maint., they're great trucks!
With the Lexus 4.7L (2UZfe), you HAVE to do oil changes every 3k miles.
If you don't, you lose power.
It's pretty nuts....
I know when it's been 3,500mi., cuz it''ll get slugish off the line.
My Fiance wanted one since she was 16. (2004)
Then her parents surprised her w/.... a TEAL '93 MUSTANG!!! 4cyl.!!!!
That POS lasted a year, then the block cracked from SEVERE overheating.
(Veronica was determined to kill it, and drove it "coolantless''.)
Next, she 'inherited' a POS Dodge Neon, as a hand-me-down from her dad.
Problem w/ that car, was her dad would let ALL the oil leak out,
and just fill it back up when the oil light came on!
That car tossed a rod a few weeks later, on the way to a B-day party.
Then.... They bought her a Toyota COROLLA.
It was previously a fleet car... and it showed.
We ended up GIVING that one away, to a buddy of mine who was down on his luck..
(She's a REALLY good person!
)I said, "Nuff's, enough.", and we went truck shopping.

The interesting part...
We went out, and bought a SUPER NICE 2005 Tundra.
It was LOADED.
Power everything, steering wheel controls for everything, cd/mp3/dvd,etc.
We bought the truck outright, from a shady dealer.
Got it for $15k, it Blue Booked at $19,500.
About a week later the 4x4 went out... Imagine that.
Then, 3 weeks later, after having owned the truck for 29 days....
I was on the freeway in the fast lane, no one in front of me.
I was goin around 65mph,
when a lady in the lane next to me decided to pull out in front of me...
From a dead stop.
The CHP read the "black box" recorder, and said I braked for 2 of the 3 seconds it took me to hit her car.
I pushed the rear bumper of her Hyundai, all the way up to the back of her driver's seat.
Thank gawd she didn't have a rear-passenger.
They wouldn't have made it.
When I ran up to her car, to see if she was okay,
The FIRST thing she said to me, was, "I didn't even look."
She had NO seatbelt on, and miraculously had NO injuries.
CHP said the seatbelt would have done more harm than good.
We have Liberty Mutual, so we have new car replacement.
But, owning a truck for 29 days, and totalling it, is devistating.
Especially when it's not yours.
But, the story turns all the way around....
Liberty told us that we would get a check for the blue book value of the truck.
Which was $19,500.
We only paid $15K for it, less than a month before,
but they pay on current value....
We took that $19K,
and searched for the EXACT year/model/color/make/acc. package she wanted.
After a month of searching everyday, we found it!
The day we saw it, we went to buy it.
The guy actually had to wait on a ride home,
cuz he didn't think we were that serious about buying it.
Now she has her "dream car"....

If its a family rig I think just a good rebuild of the front suspension would be in order. You are going to throw money at something that it sounds by your description that it can do at stock or near stock level. Don;t get me wrong I think it will look way better but I cant see spending all that $$ on something that would spend 90% of its time on the pavement. Unless of course you bought it lifted and all that stuff. I can see that after tires, the lift, gears and associated parts plus install running about 3-4K. I have a neighbor who spent about $4400 with something similar but he added wheels to the mix. This was at 4 wheel rapists err i mean parts warehouse.

In retrospect, I shoulda bought it from the insurance company for salvage cost.
I still kick myself to this day, for not doing that!
As soon as you, "damage a headlight, the core support, or an airbag deploys, it's totalled."
That's what my insurance agent said.
I had all 3 of those criteria.
The nearest decent body shop, wanted $2,000+ to replace the airbag alone.

Wow, totalled because of a damaged headlight? What if a bulb goes out? Jack the truck up, remove the gas, replace the entire truck, put the gas back in, and lower it down?
I think that he just lives in Cali. Toyota tundras are known to cause cancer in the state of California

They are literally EVERYWHERE her in CA. I can look out my office window and see 10 in the parking lot on any given day. It doesnt suprise me one bit they would consider it totalled. Only to have it reconditioned and sell it somewhere else or part it out as the sum of its parts are worth more then the whole thing.

I just got back from ordering the RCD 6" lift kit.
Veronica needs to decide on what rims she wants, and it's install time.
When it's done, it should look like this:

She's leaning toward these wheels, in an 18x9:
