If you were going to build a setup like this, would you have to runa full floater axle, or could you just throw any old ten bolt under it?
 
I know people who have an axle that is built the same as the axle in their truck. If anything happens to their truck, they have a spare. Plus, with a full floater, you could pull the axles and cap the hubs, giving you less rolling resistance.
 
A friend of mine is a big advocate of using the back end of a pickup as a homemade trailer. He has 3 of them. A '83 F150, a '83 Chevy C10, and a '91 Chevy S10. All trucks were used as parts vehicles and he turned the back half of all of them into trailers then scrapped what he didn't want to keep from the trucks. They are used every day on his property. The F150 and C10 are used to haul scrap metal and the S10 is used to haul garbage to the dump.

few pics of mine. 1ton 56" springs with 9 leafs per pack.

it has 4k lbs of gravel in it right now. 32" tires on with no lift.

i built the framework to mount the toolbox outside on the wasted space on the fromt ofthe box. only think i dont care for i want to move is the spare tire.
