Hey all. Im looking at picking up a 1/4 inch air ratchet and a 3/8 impact. Ive been looking at ingersoll rand. Also thinking of matco and snap on. Any Input?

My 1/4 in air ratchet was a Milwaukee which fell apart years ago. Never really needed one for garage use. I used mine while working for a airline seat manufacturer years ago. I worked in the R&D dept. We would fabricate custom seats and if the customer liked our prototype it then would go into production. Lots of smaller fasteners used in the manufacturing of airline seats. 1/4 air ratchets serve their purpose though. I have not had the need for one in years. Maybe if I had one I would use it. I probably would just go Snap On since I have my dealer come to my house.

I have there TI 1/2 impact and its great. Im not sure but is IR made in china?

I have alwats used IR guns, but have Snap On, air ratchets, very happy with them, but never tried any others. I would get whatever has the most support in your area. My shop only has Snap On dealer, the other guys only last a few months then fold. Most everybody sells IR, and they have a good parts network also.

Keep in mind that the big 3 tool guys are nothing more than a huge mark up on air tool stuff and most of the times they aren't their own brand of tool. What i'm saying is you might find that Snap-on for instance will sell you an IR air ratchet for alot more than you can buy it at sears.

Yep, that true. I would actually find a MasterPower ratchet. Their tool are BAD ASS.

Do you have any ideas where to look for MasterPower air tools?

I bought my Master Power die grinder I believe thru MSC Industrial. It was on sale. It's BY FAR the most die grinder I have ever used. Has awesome torque. Google Master Power tool, their under Cooper tool. They are not cheap but well worth the money. My die grinder was $180 on sale.

Thanks for the info. I've been wanting to get a new/better die grinder for a while now. Right now I've been using the cheap Chinese POS's. They don't really have the balls to run a cutoff wheel the way i would like them to. I'll keep Master Power in mind when funds allow a new die grinder.

Just checked MSC industrial, they do carry Master Power air tools and that was where I got mine on sale.

I have the 2135ti half inch impact. it works awesome and puts blue point to shame. I also have the composite 3/8 ratchet and angle die grinder from IR. They have been great. My uncle is a mechanic and he uses the 3/8 Ir composite impact for 95% of his work. He said he rarely needs a 1/2" impact. He has used snap on also, but the IR is a better value.

I don't know where IR is made, but it is made well.

ir aluminum body stuff is now all made in china basicly.

ir composit body stuff is still usa made for the most part.

and composit is lighter on the hand and arms at the end of the day. best choice. :D

i have 4 ir composit tools i use all the time. i love them.

ive got a 2135ti max upstairs, never even used it :haha:Really need to get an air fitting on it so its ready when i need it, but i just use dads old snap on from 40 years ago, still working fine for what we need.
