I thought i seen a vendor other than ORD that sold the 1.5" x .375" wall DOM tie rod. I searched but couldn't find it, i thought i remember it costing $85.00 for just the tube and being directly threaded without the use of weld on inserts. This sticks in my mind because it was the exact same product that ORD offers but much cheaper in price.

Do they have a website? I typed in pimpoffroad.com and nothing and also pimpnoffroad.com and once again still nothing.

Thanks, i took a second look and found them. Nothing wrong with ORD but i can't see paying $115.00 for the same product that i can buy for $90.00.

I got mine from Sky for $150 ($165 shipped), including tie rod ends. Another $30 for powder coating and now I'm good for life.

It's only 1.25" OD and .25" wall, though. I dunno if they make a 1.50"/.375".

Your going to hate me ! I was at my local steel place and I got some 20ft+ lenghts of 1 1/2 x 3/8 wall dom for scrap prices . it had some rust but at 28 cents a pound I ain't complaining :D . I can't beleive the price of tubing  . It ain't made of gold .

So i'll give you $1.00 a pound and i need 5 feet. :deal:
Ok , You pay the shipping too ! I will see what I can get to ship it in . I have an online ups account too . It shouldn't be to much as we are not to far apart . I will get back to you , Bruce

Yeah, I made one out of 1.5x.25 and welded in some threaded adpaters. I paid 30 for the adapters and ~16 for something like 52 inches of tube.

Made my draglink for crossover out of the same stuff.

It is BEEFY!

I'd appreciate it if you could get a shipping quote for me and let me know. I'm currently having a buddy checking to see if he has the correct taps so we can thread this.

My old school 1.5" diameter tie rod was a rockstomper rock rod. i don't think you can get one anymore.

screw tapping it.
Order two drop in threaded bungs, weld em to some tube and be done with it. :wink1:

Not a problem :thumb: . I used 1 1/2 x 1/4 dom for my cross over steering link . I just used the weld on bungs and jam nut's from Mad4wd . I'm going to use the 3/8 wall stuff for my high steer link . You can buy the taps for the 7/8 - rh or lh thread but they are spendy .

I actually have a 7/8 x 18 right hand tap in my tool box here at work, it's the left hand tap i would need but i haven't even checked on a price yet but i'm sure being left handed it won't be cheap. The right hand tap was like $22.00. My zip is 94538 so you can check shipping cost. :thumb:

Crap ! I went out to get the tube to cut a 5ft section and when I brought it in I measured it and it's .288 wall :o . I had bought 1 stick of 3/8 wall and 2 sticks of .288 wall . All I have left is a 9 ft 8" section of 1 1/2 x .288 wall dom . If you still wanted the 5 foot length it's about 18lbs @ $1 a lb and I bet it's $20 to ship it . I bet you could find it cheaper in your neck of the wood's . What does it cost a foot ? let me know . I may go up tomrrow and see if they have any left .

Well, at this point it really doesn't matter as the 7/8" x 18 left hand tap cost $135.00. :yikes: They say it is a special made/special order tap, WTF. At this point it would be silly for me to buy a tap that expensive just to built my own tie rod. If i had several people wanting them and i could seel a few then it would be worth it but i'm not about to drop that kind of coin on a tap.
