So im thinking about going for a 1" body lift. Will i have to change anything or is it just install and play? Opinions?

i dont really think its worth it unless ur mounts are shot, suspension and trimming are the way to go, just my .02

My mounts arent shot yet but the body lift is something that i thought about when i was trying to decide on new tires and wheels which is a PITA !

nothing wrong with a 1" BL... I like that space it adds for access to stuff...

I don't see a problem with a 1" BL. Just don't forget to make room for your fan in the shroud. Most of us modify or replace bumpers anyway, so making up the gap there is no big deal.:D I wouldn't want to go more than that, because I think it is a lot of strain on the body mounts.

I personally wouldnt go more than a 1" BL anyways. I was just curious to see what i would be getting myself into with a 1" as in i assume i wouldnt have to change or extend anything when i lift it mainly steering shaft.

My mounts were heading south, so I did poly mounts and a 1" BL at the same time. Had to adjust the shifter linkage's, and trim the lower part of the fan shroud, but other than that, plug and play. Had I not busted my hand open when a wrench slipped and had to get stiches, it would have been an easy 1/2 day job. The extra little bit of room for things was WAY worth it in my opionion, let me clock my 241 up dead flat without any body mods...

Anyone ever done one on a Suburban? Do you have to cut holes in anything to get to body bolts? That's my one concern...

I've got a '84 'burb for a prts truck that has a 3"BL on it. It doesn't look like he cut any holes, but there's nothing attached to the body mount bracket just ahead of the rear axle. Dunno if that helps.:dunno:

That body mount your refering too strikes me as odd.. mine is like that too, stock. At first I thought I was missing a body bolt, but it's like that on both sides.

Someone here suggested they had to cut the floor for the rear most body mounts.. maybe it's because they didn't drop the tank(I know I'm going to have to drop it).

the only time you cut the floor on a K5 is when the captured nuts up in the cab start to spin.. they aren't supposed to.... it's 4 spots between the wheelbase.. the bolts come up from the bottom.. I'm assuming a burb has similar...

the back "can" be done with the tank in, with the right tools.. tho much easier with it out.. dropping tanks is cake...

I dont mind dropping tanks but i seem to have screwed luck when it comes to having gas still in the tank. I am workin on my 3/4T as well as my burban and neither have a power train yet the burb has at least 20 gallons and the 3/4T has about 10 gallons. I hate syphoning...:doah:

I'm going plan it right and run down to about 3-5 gallons before I drop mine.. last 3-5 I'll just jump the stock pump and put it into a can. Not worried about screwing up the pump that's in there now since I plan to replace it.

Going by how easy the bolts are to break free on my truck I don't think it'll be too bad...

Did the 1 inch BL without dropping the tank without any issues on my burban. Really dig the ORD 1" BL with the tapped pucks to upgrade the poorly designed rear body mount locations from the factory. But I DID have to buy some (2 I think) of my own bolts to install the kit the way I wanted to.

I think come wednesday when i get paid if i have enough left over from my wiring harness purchase ill buy that set from ord, that and the poly mount kit they have. ironically i just spent 2 hours pressure washin her to find where my mounts where..10lbs of mud later i found em! rusty like the rest :D

No problems with the 1" body lift. I'm about to install one on my '91 Burb. You won't need to extend anything.
