That zook on rockwells looks rediculous. whether it works great or not is besides the point that it looks retarded. there is something to be said for things that are built to scale.
The 1.6L "big block" zook swap is a EFI engine too. grab the 3rd members out of a tracker they are 5.13s and bolt in. and go wheel the pisss out of it.
I myself would swap an older VW turbo diesel into it. but thats just me.

here a local that scratch fabbed an intake to plonk an Eaton blower on his 1.6L in his sammi. says it added about 30 lbs in weight but around 75 HP. not bad for a tin can.

The Thing is cool . It really is ridiculous though , and it has 1 links front and rear.
My Buddy Runs a Zuki , Yota axles crawler box , and 35" boggers on InnerAir Locks. It has a TDI VW motor he swapped in with all his own goods. Things works , and he flogs the daylights out of it. Also goes where most big trucks can't . And that sir is the beauty of them.
I'll admit that you can fix up a Sami pretty cheap and have a lot of fun, but let's keep this in perspective. We have several of the standard Sami builds in our club (SOA, 31-33" tires, lockers, low gear t-case) and they are fun and quite capable......but they cannot keep up with the bigger rigs when the going gets really rough. The only advantage they do have is every once in awhile they are small enough to squeeze through someplace or take some crazy line, but most of the time they just can't keep up.
Anyway, a couple of build-ups in our club.
Stretched Sami frame and body (not sure wheelbase, but probably at least 100"). Built 302 w/ aluminum heads, C6, D300 t-case, Toyota axles, 35" tires.
Tin top, 4.3 V-6, TH350, 203/300 doubler, Toyota axles, 36" tires, slightly stretched WB.
Anyway, a couple of build-ups in our club.

there is no way thats 100 inch wheelbase..here is a buddy of mines and its only 88
Assume you are saying it's not that long? Maybe that was not a good picture but it's WAY longer than the one you showed (found another picture). Look closer, the body between the door and rear fenderwell is stretched probably a foot, the rear axle is further rearward in the rear fenders, and the front is way forward...probably 12".
