1-tonmudders 241/205 Doubler

ooooooooooooo pretty...!

i'm getting a 465/208 out of an '86 Blazer so i'm on the hunt for a 241...

how hard would it be to use the 208 instead...?

ah ok... didn't know about the weaker planetaries... if they're weaker, even marginally, then why were they in all the military trucks...?!

yeah, a 2.62 ratio (208) to a 2.72 ratio (241) wouldn't be that noticeable to me, since i'm going to use mine mostly for logging trails, hills, and pulling...

the 241 came out after the military trucks did. Was primarly used for burbs and blazers, not trucks. The 208 was just first and the military liked the first version of a lower low range, and a lighter t-case that was still part time.

Okay so I have finally got back on this and got it together. One of the main hold up's on this had been gettin the correct input. The round pattern 205 has the long input and I was under the impression that was what I needed, wrong.I put the 205 together and it would not bolt to the 241 due the extra lenth of the long input.I had to order a new one from ORD.

So once I got the shaft I was able to get started again.
I had previously put a new seal in the back but it would not let the rear shaft pass by it so I had to pull it out and put another in after I put the shaft back in.I clearanced it a little so I could get it back apart if needed.

Here are some assembly pictures.I put a 32 spline front out-put in it while it was apart.

Took it to the Gulches last weekend and in spite of a couple of small shifter issues it worked very good.Amazing what alittle more gear reduction will do.

Awesome! Now I want one!   (OK, I already wanted one :D )

Questions:

Are those ORD twin sticks on the 205?

What mods to the shifter linkage (if any) were required to shift from the rear?

Is the 241 shifter just welded to the shift shaft?

if you want a speedo to hook up. look in to a divorced tail housing . the speedo port is on the left side away from the shift rail.

The shifters are from JB fab.

You have to make your linkage.I used 5/16 round stock and threaded the ends for heims. The 241 is a simple up/down plunger type shifter.Once I got it in the truck it didnt have enuf pull to get it in lo-range,so I had to weld a tab to the side of it instead of where it is pictured. The 241 arm is just a modded stock 241 arm.

Yeah I have one I just didnt have time to drill it and get it on.

i like it i think this will become more popular in the future!:D

I really like mine, but this a bastard transfer case and I think that'll be what keeps it from bein popular.
