10 bolt cleaning....WTF is this!

Man, I know that piece. I just cannot remember where I have seen one.

It may be part of a Gov Bomb, but if it is, its not what I am thinking of, because I don't ever remember tearing one of those apart.

But it looks so darn familiar. What does the smooth end look like? Has it been sawed off?

OK, I remember where I have seen one thing like it, but I don't think that is what I was trying to remember.
It looks like the valve stem of a home shower valve.
The splined end is where the handle attaches.

Any sign of a set screw mark in the splines, or is that end drilled and tapped?

There is something else that looks like that, but I cannot remember right now.

Of course, who has been showering in your axle, I have no idea.

Its smaller than you are thinking i think.

Maybe 3/16" diameter.

Solid, no cut, no marks, no threads.

Thinking its definitely some sort of a pin to hold something in place.

FWIW....I've torn down refrigeration compressors before and found stuff inside....

one had some polishing stones from the tumbling / polishing process used in the factory.....and one had a sharpie in the crankcase....

It looks like a large pin that fell out of my valve stem remover.

Its just teh extra bits... just do what I do... throw it away and then hunt 5 junk yards looking for a replacement when u actually figure out what it did....
