How the heck did you break an open carrier? You don't wear 'deep sea diver's boots' when driving do ya?:D

Just so everyone knows this was not my carrier that broke. It broke because my friend had it welded and running 38.5" TSL on H1 Beadlocks. Those are a heavy, heavy wheel and tire combo.

Not that it matters, but this is a D44 in the pic above with the broken carrier.

Yeah that'll do it!!:D

Yeah, I have 10bolt f&r... never really knew a lot about the difference in an axle till that carrier split... Anyone else run a truetrac in a 10bolt? Is it holding up? I've got a 12bolt in my 74 K10 I could switch out with before I sell it, but I really don't know if a 12 is all that much better then a 10???? Although the K10 has a D44 front, would it be a good idea to use it on the K5??

12b is marginally better. Not enough to be worth swapping. Not much of a difference at all. D44 is just like a 10b exept i beleive its the spiders in the diff are a different size. I could be wrong on what it is different. but its the same basic internals.

notice the axles are straight and it is just the center that rotated. I was screwed when I pulled that one. I also brought the wrong ujoint with me too that day. both front and rear let go at once. I should not have tried the hill a 5th time Huh.

citizen rider can feel your pain...i think he went through 2 or 3 pairs of joints in less than a week cuz of puttin the wrong size in.

Shooooot. 3 joints in 1 week. 2 rear, 1 front. First one to go was the correct joint, but my shaft was out of phase. Pull rear shaft, put it in 4wd, front blows. Straps werent tight. Then the replacement they gave me for the rear was wrong size and an out of phase joint...booom. Bent the shaft up good and had to get a new one. No probs since.
