I have a 78 k10 it had a 12 bolt rear and still has the 10 bolt front. The 14 bolt i am going to be putting in this weekend has 4.56 gear ratio. I am looking for a 4.56 for the front. does it matter what axles I have? does 28 30 33 matter? what ones were in the 1/2 ton trucks? Also do you guys know of a good place to get a 4.56 for the front for cheap?

You should have 28 spline axles in a 78 10 bolt.
Try Randys ring and pinion for the gears.

What Tunder said . And you don't need a new carrier either , yours will work with 4.56 gears . Doesn't matter what splines as far as gears go . While its apart is a good time to add a locker
