I know you lose quite a bit of ground clearance going from 10 bolts to Dana 60 and 14BFF, but I've searched the forums and tech articles and can't find any numbers. Does anyone know exactly how much you lose? (BTW, please include whether the measurement includes shaving the 14BFF) Thanks.

not sure how much I lost but with my 14bff and 35" tires with the 14b shaved up to the bottom bolt hole I am right at 10" of clearance under the pumpkin, I drag it on everything but who cares just power over it :)

You don't lose much with a 60, with a 14 however well those are pretty big. I'll measure the 60 and get back to you..

I will measure my 60 tomorrow if nobody has yet and post it. Maybe we should do a sticky or some thing with a list of clearences, to include t-cases and fronts etc. Like a list of facts thing.

you don't lose any, cause when you swap the D60 in, you get rid of those girly 35s, throw on a set of 42s and you have way more clearance. :cool1:

I have about 10 inches of clearnace on my 60, but I am running 38.5X14.5's on 10 wide wheel which makes them about 36.5-37" area. I have the same clearance with my tires as my friend does with 10B's and 35's.

If you shave a 14b right you will end up with the same amount or more clearence than a 10b.

first time ive ever heard that. where did u find this info? ive always heard that its still alot less clearance, unless your cutting and plating.

then why do you have only 39.5's?:dunno:

just kiddin:D

I remember a post a while back called another shaved 14b and then some or something like that where he said he gained like 2.5" inches. I don't know what all was invovled with the project but he had the pics to prove it.

i think i know the post your speaking of. what he did was cut the bottom portion of the diff off, right up to the ring gear inside. i think he even ground the outer edge of the ring gear for added clearance. then he welded in a section of plate steel to seal the thing back up. youll gain another 1-1.5 inches over a regular shave, but its ALOT more work than just shaving the fat lip off like most people to. pretty hardcore if u ask me.

You loose about that if not more. An 14bFF eats up a lot of clearance, which is why i dont have one. I like having 11" under the diff. Okiemuddog has ~10" on 38's on his 60, and a 14bFF hangs down even lower.
