12 bolt axle shafts- vertical play at axle bearings

While doing an inspection of the rear system, I noticed some play up and down, on both axles. Maybe I never noticed it before, but I'm curious. It's about .002 - .008" (somewhere in there) up and down (I didn't mic it, just by feel). The bearing surfaces look good, and the shafts aren't scored. Is this a normal thing, or am I being paranoid/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

There is a certain amount of "vertical" play that is acceptable and if you only have .002"-.008" that is good.

better than the .30'' we had on or2plays 12 bolt. but then we put a 14 bolt and disk brakes under it. now i have a bad trailer axle...
ill fix it... some day... maybe.
