I started thinking of how great it would be to have an additional power source made available and I found a thread from early 2000 that mentioned it, but from what I remembered it had no info in it.

Has anyone done it or thought of installing a household outlet in their truck? (hooked up to a power inverter/converter:confused:) so if you for some reason need to break out a corded tool in the middle of nowhere you could still use it?

I have an inverter in my crew cab. I then ran a cord from one of the outlets to a remote location for the back seat passengers. As far as that goes you could run remote outlets just about anywhere as long as they were protected from weather.

It is handy sometimes. One thing to keep in mind, if you intend to use the inverter to power something like a laptop, make sure the inverter is compatible. Somtimes laptops don't like the voltage coming from cheap inverters.

Thanks!

It looks like maybe my search terms were a little too specific and that is why I didn't find any other results.

yup, a pure sine wave inverter is needed for sensitive electronics :thumb:
