Finally some carnage on thw 12b Disc's
Well after using the

as a DD for over a year with the discs on, I finally broke something.
I was driving it to and from work (about 25 miles 1 way) and Wed. night I started to get a clunk while braking. I crawled under the truck after getting home and didnt see anything right off the bat. So I drove it to work Thursday. It continued to clunk everytime I hit the brakes. But it felt like it was coming from the front end. Then on the way home Thursday I hit the brakes and felt a "pop"!

and the pedal went straight to the floor. I limped it home and checked it out in the driveway. This is what I found:
The clunking I heard was the backing plate rotating back and forth with braking since the 4 bolts had come loose or backed out.
The "pop" I heard and felt was the brake line twisting around the axle tube after the final bolts fell out of the backing plate as it spun around with the disc.
Luckily I had Friday off, so I went to Napa and picked up a replacement brake line. I pulled it apart and re-installed the backing plate with new bolts and some more locktite. Hooked up the hose and cleaned up the mess.
A bolt did chew up the inside of the rim a bit, but nothing major.
It actually took longer to get the brake system bled than it did to fix the caliper and hose since I lost all the fluid in the rear circuit.
