14 bolt disk break conversion

Got my brackets from DIY4X, they work great. I got my stainless brake lines from ORD. All other parts I was able to get at the local parts store.

Depends on if you want a whole kit (more $$, less work for you) or just the parts (less $$, more work.)

Alternately, there are lots of posts here and across the web about doing it yourself with off-the-shelf parts. The only really custom thing you need is the brackets; these are available from many vendors, but the two CK5 favorites are, as mentioned,

That should get you started.

You'll also need to consider the costs and benefits of a parking brake caliper (Cadillac Eldorado) versus a driveline brake or not having a parking brake at all.

got my brackets from diy4x, calipers, pads and lines I got from the parts store and I already had a spare set of good rotors.

dont know much about anybody elses brackets but kert's are pretty freakin awesome and I spent about $35 on the rest of the stuff so overall I got less than $100 in my disk conversion by doing it this way.

What did you do for the master cylinder?
 
I used DIY's brackets, junkyard calipers, everything else from the parts store. Cheap.
 
i bought all my BRAKE stuff seperately, brackets from online somewhere, stock front rotors and calipers and front lines from the same year as my truck.
 
It seems the caddy calipers are the #1 expense to doing discs right :eek1: I just don't like the idea of running around without a parking brake..
 
I read from user experiences that even if you do the caddy calipers, it doesn't even hold that well. Why put it on if I can't trust it? I'm going to go with a driveline brake in mine.

Mine hold just fine... holds my truck from rolling down the driveway....now offroad maybe another story.. but I dont stop on hills.... im usually sendin my tire tread to china!!!!! :haha:

drive line brakes arent cheap... but nice.. .however in NJ they are not a legal parking brake....

Maybe I'll revisit it once it's a priority... It's not a problem in CO... I don't even have emissions in my county.
 
well I had d44 calipers on and the wife didnt like that idea....
I was going to spring load the pedal as that is all they verify at inspection :wink1:


so I did it right...

$45 to my door got me 2 used caddy calipers with springs and levers and all..... from an online junkyard.... then I paid $60 each for new ones from napa...... however if you search my name and caddy calipers... you will find that the remanufacured ones seem to be getting the wrong pistons installed in them....... major headaches...

still for $165 I ended up with new calipers with used springs and levers.. but it worked.... :crazy:
 
Caddy calipers seem to work a little in town with small tires. A freind with 35's said they were worthless.
