Hello everyone I would just like to know because I'm not totally sure. Do you need a different carrier to run 4.56 gears? The 14 Bolt I have has like a 3.42 or somthing they are highway gears. Will I have to hunt down a different carrier to go to 4.56 gears? Thank you John

The carrier split is 4.10 and lower and 4.56 and higher. To run normal 4.56 gears you will need a new carrier. BUT

They make "thick" version 4.56 gears that will work on your 4.10 carrier. I personally run 4.56 thick gears on a carrier that used to have 3.73's on it. So the answer is NO you don't need a new carrier.

Are there any disadvantages to running "thick" gears, other than you can't get anything lower than 4.56? Can you run all the same lockers as long as you order the ones meant for the 4.10 down carrier?

I dont see any disadvantages, the ring gear is thicker so it in theory will be stronger.

none, all you need is the thick gear. Nothing different about install, other than installing a thicker gear.
