14 bolt ff questions

I purchased a 14 bolt ff axle out of a late 70's single wheel truck. It has the 11 5/32' X 2 3/4' brakes. My question is when I pulled the axle shaft and removed the two nuts, washer and locking washer (looks like a sprocket).
There was no grease on the bearings only gear oil. Is this correct? Or did the gear oil wash out the grease? It also has the same size brakes as my 86' K-10, will the backing plates from the 10 bolt work on the 14 bolt ff?

Your good to go. The grease that is on the bearings is only there until the gear lube gets there and washes and melts it all together.
