14-Bolt rear disk **photo of new e-brake**

Looks like theres the mounting bracket and 2 spacers between it and the axle mounting. If you halved the bracket in the pictures and used 1 spacer between the new bracket and the current bracket it "should" mount up on the inside of a ruffstuff bracket thus making it compatible (if you're accounting for the 3/8" thick ruff stuff bracket, though i dont know the materiel thickness of ORD or DIY4X brackets).

Ive got ruff stuffs brackets on my 14 bolt and I'm local (monument/springs). I've even got the stock ebrake cable zip tied under the truck. Let me know if those dudes want to use my setup as a template. I'd even do it out of the goodness of my heart and wouldnt even ask for a discount should they can figure something out.

.....................ok so i might not be able to live up to that last sentence :D.

this is a dual caliper bracket, I do not think cutting it half would work. I hear you on the discount...

I wish I could say these were sourced, the set you see in the pictures is totally 100% hand built.

Well, as soon as you say "TSM", I belive it. IIRC, their parking brake caliper is a new casting related to, but not a direct duplicate copy of, the El Dorado ones.

Nice stuff -- you pay for that, of course, but it's often justifiable.

has anyone heard anything else regarding an e brake caliper to run separate calipers for each (hydraulic service brakes and mechanical e brake)? I am tired of adjusting my Cadillac calipers. They are either too loose and my brakes don't work well, or I get them a bit to tight, like just now, and they get hot and start to smoke. Now I have to wait for them to cool so I can readjust.

Also, I noticed that the parking brake arm on the Eldorado calipers I have doesn't fit well on the hex shaft of the caliper. The arm seems to be mild steel and is getting slightly rounded out.

Small hijack, if you are having to adjust disc brakes, then something is really wrong. My eldo calipers are self adjusting. The parking brake lever isnt supposed to be rotated at all (except for when the parking brake is on).

Id be interested in knowing more about these calipers as well.

I'm not done building it yet, but, Just need to build the master cylinder part of it and it will be done.
See post # 668 in my build thread.

I bought my rear disk setup as a kit from ORU in Burbank, Ca. The directions explain how to adjust the parking brake. The parking brake adjustment controls how close the pads sit to the rotor when the brakes are not applied. The parking brake arm should move about 3/16 of an inch when turned by hand without the return spring or brake cable attached.

To adjust, remove the arm, put a 9/16 wrench on the shaft and put the nut back on over the 9/16 wrench. Then turn shaft the opposite direction that the arm would be rotated to set the e brake. This will re-index the shaft. It is a trial and error process.

I only use my e brake once in a while, so it may have something to do with needing adjustment a lot, from what I have read. My uncle is a mechanic and said he has experienced the same problem with similar calipers. If I remember correctly, some camaros used a similar caliper.

I have heard that the eldo calipers require you to use the parking brake frequently so the parking brake portion can adjust itself, but ive never heard of the brakes dragging while driving or needig adjustment for normal braking. Ive never adjusted mine.

These are still on,
They are redoing the first ones some of us got. Not from not working right, the adjustment was a pain in the butt yes I complained to him and showed him why. This is an area that the owner is really wanting to make easy, or as easy as he can.
Secondly;
he is wanting to give more choices on how it can be mounted and the parking brake cables routed.
I talked to him about working with others brackets, he will not say one way or another. This has been a big project for him, over the past year and a half (money and time). I'm not even sure, if he will sale the parking brake separate or not. He was leaning towards having it in a kit form, in others words all in one.
I will update this as I go.

my brakes drug because I set the distance between the caliper housing and arm at 1/16th or 1/8th of an inch. I basically applied the parking portion of the caliper by setting the arm in the wrong position. The brakes have not drug on their own out of the blue. That one was my fault. I backed off the adjustment last night. Now the rear brakes don't do as much work as they should. Maybe they would tighten up if I used the parking brake a few times per day for a while :dunno:. I haven't tried it.

thanks for the explanation... i threw my eldo calipers on and never did any adjusting..

i want to put line locks in eventually.. ebrake is for inspection only.. i dont care if they do not hold... but they do for the most part... line lock would only be used when winching someone or that kind of stuff...

<hijack off>

Holy $hit! 2 rear calipers, Never seen that before!!! Wow

Anything ever happen with these???????

YES TSM is waiting for the final version of the brackets to get back from the powder coating, so we can try them out on my axle.
Long story short; the first prototypes were not very user friendly, so back to the drawing board for a different adjustment on pad to rotor contact but also the cable coming into it. The owner wanted more flexibility for the end user with the cable. And something about holidays and his vacation.

Secondly; the new design will work with "others" dual caliper brackets. Basically, if you can bolt a 1/2 ton caliper on to it, these should fit.
I believe it may have been your question that drove that part.

I just put TSM disk brakes on my 1979 Ford D60 rear...

I ordered the calipers with the e-brakes....:pimp:

the entire kit fit flawlessly and works perfectly...

passed state inspection with no issues...:woot::woot:

Subscribed with interest. Getting ready to do mine and I'm on the fence about which way to go...

Hey guys, when you run the front chevy 4x4 calipers, say from a 79 k20 4x4 pickup, do you use the lighter calipers or the ones for the JB7 brake system. I just bought some for my 14bff and I got the JB7 calipers since I also have Jb7 brakes on my 79 c20 that has this rear end. I hope to get my cadilac calipers off tomorrow and the 4x4 calipers put on. I need good brakes and the eldorado calipers aren't getting the job done. I may end up with some of these TSM parking brakes when they get done. For now I will use a wheel chock when needed.

not designed for long time use like parking .

and not legal for parking brake as its NOT seperate from service brake system.
