14 bolt semi float

dammit Jim; this is not the update I am looking for :D
I have a long list of things to do.

I already have the ball joints, bearing for most of the front end. Need to order gears and some seals.

For the rear i need to order the bearing kit to redo the rear end. Disc brake conversion. a couple of tools.

All my sound deadening material has shown up. I have all new carpet ready to go in.

Tomorrow morning ill prep the rear end and get ready to paint it. Removed the axles and the brakes. seem to be some light rust on the axles. What should i use to clean them up?

on the shafts? probably some old condensation left on its own to fog and rust... as long as the seal surfaces are good, and as long as the bearing surface isnt gouged or scored - steel wool, grinder with wire wheel -meh. pick something and scrub it off. wipe it off and give it a quick wipe with some gear oil just to make sure its not bone dry in there

So i got some wire wheels and some steel wool. I grinded the axle as best as i could get it. Por 15 with full prep. degreaser and metal etch.
got the first coat down. Removed everything from the axle also. a little nasty in there.

As far as i pinion and gears wtih carrier. Is it ok to spray it with brake cleaner? I want to clean everything real good before i reinstall.

Just an update.

After some time away from the jimmy. I decided to buy everything for it and come back to it

New carrier “Yukon”
New gears. “4.56”
Disc brake conversion with ebrake “lugnut4x4 kit”
All new bearings and seals.
Last piece was a new pinion yoke.
