I have a14bff and caddy calipers and want to run a non e brake caliper. My truck is a 79 c20. I think the calipers from the front of a 79k20 would work, is this the case? Also do i need different lines than the eldorado calipers? Will my current pads work on the 4x4 caliper? They look almost identical and only have a few miles on them. They are hawk hps pads so i would hate to trash them. Thanks

Yes, that is the case.

Just be sure the banjo bolt is the correct size.

Not sure on the pads. If they were originially from the caddy calipers, the pin spacing is correct. Don't know much else about them.

Wanna sell or trade? I've got calipers off a 75 3/4 ton Dana 44... Iirc the pre metric are the same

I'm not sure trading would be cost effective, but if I do the swap and it works well, I may be interested in selling the caddy calipers.

I have bad luck getting the adjustment where it needs to be, and then wear on the pads causes it to get loose again. I almost never need my parking brake, so I figured I might run non-e brake calipers and have great hydraulic brakes vs. caddy calipers that don't work worth a crap most of the time and can not hold the truck with the e-brake applied. I always turn my wheels to keep from rolling if the parking sprag lets loose on the trans, and I would carry wheel chocks if I loose the e-brake, hell, I usually have a few blocks of wood in the truck right now anyway.

I goofed.......My front brake pads, for my c20 with stock calipers, are nearly identical to the pads for my caddy rear calipers. May not be the case with the front 4x4 calipers. I am going to check the specs right now.

Its been a while since i removed a brake line, but it makes sense that the brake line would work with multiple calipers as long as the banjo bolt threads into the caliper and the seals/washers are the same size. After all the line just has a metal loop on the end.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll see if I can figure this out without just buying the new calipers and giving it a go. I hate to take parts back to the store just because I didn't know if they would work.

The pads for 4x4 and 4x2 are the same as long as you're dealing with 1/2 and 3/4 ton but the caddy pads are different.

The banjo bolts on the caddy calipers are listed as 7/16 if i remember correctly. I just bought front calipers for a 79 k20 with jb7 brakes and they use metric banjo bolts. My c20 has the JB7 brakes, so hopefully these calipers will work for the rear of my truck. I will try swapping the calipers tomorrow.
