I'm sure this has been beat to death, but just to stay current, is there a gear that is numerically higher than the 5.38? Called Randy's R&P and they said no. I really need some 6.xx, so I might just go with the D70.

You need to go with something else in that case. Why such a deep gear? What are you running

42's with a 700R4 no doubler. I use this truck for everything, not specifically built for any one thing.

Running 5.38's with a true 42" tire should be fine. You be be running 1958rpm @ 65mph in OD. It's likely that the tires don't measure a true 42" though and the shorter the tire the more rpm's you'll get.

I run 5.13's in my Avalanche with 44's and it put my spedo back to true readings....with 42's it would be off a little but your power would be there...5.38's even better

is that sas'd? if not how much lift is on it? when the avalanche 1st came out, i thought how ugly. now they've grown on me and i really like them.....especially when they're on 44's...2 thumbs up!

It's still IFS although it is a 2500 so it is a bit stronger than a half ton. I do plan on putting a front from under a 03 or newer dodge so I can get the speed sensor to work without dash lights. I have a 12" fullthrottle and a 3: body right now.
