14BFF over rated???

the 14ff is my axle of choice for my s10. to me, axle choice starts with tire selection. if you want a 38+ tire, you should probably be looking at these big axles no matter what the vehicle.
 
If you are running big enough tires to need a 14-bolt in the back, then the width and wheel bolt pattern are a completely moot point because you will need to upgrade the front D30 anyway.

Not sure how anybody can say the 14-bolt will sap too much power from a 4.0L.....what do you think a set of 36+" tires would do??

A guy in our club just built a YJ and paid Dyna-rape $15,000 for a set of axles:eek1: I don't think I have more than maybe $2,000 in my 1-tons and that's locked f&r, rear discs, 35-spline stubs and flanges.
