I think I'm going to upgrade my rear axle to a 14bff but keeping the front 10 bolt for now. I'm just thinking out the logistics here but is there a universal rim that will fit both lug patterns so I don't have to carry 2 spare tires:confused:

Preferably cheap too...it's a spare:D

uuum, no, and if there were, i am pretty sure you could find the front 8 lug conversion parts on here for about or even cheaper than those special rims would cost. :D

I may know someone that has some too,,,kinda wished i had kept that axle now :doah:

Yeah? Never done this:doah: So what's involved in changing it over? Axle stubs, brake rotors, backing plates......??? And you may know someone w/ the parts for the conversion?

I am running 8 lug rims with 2.5 backspacing. You won't have to grind the front 10 bolt calipers and they fit the 14 bolt. Here is a pic. They will be for sale if interested.

I believe he was asking about a dual type bolt pattern, one for 8 lug that will also fit the 6 lug...

The 8 lug conversion is simple,,,basically the brake backing plates (as they are larger than 1/2 ton to allow for the larger diameter 3/4 ton rotor) the 8 lulg rotors and the hubs,,,,very simple, can still use the stock calipers and brake pads. :D

4xcrazy is right. Although sometimes is is easier just to find a 10 bolt or a dana 44 and swap axles. :doah:

Like to get 160 for all 4. I want a chrome rim and hope to get my new ones soon they are on back order.

Duh I'm a dumba$$. I wasn't even thinking a/b the differences in the hub sizes etc.. Well I suppose the price of p/u those parts shouldn't be too bad.

you wont need the hubs if you are using the same axle

what i did for my conversion was 3/4 calipers along with backing plate and rotor. used the same hubs i have now

You could get the rear wheel spaces. I know that you can get them from 8 lug to 6 lug. Also your rear axle on the chevys is 3" skinner than the front and it can fix that too but I dunno how strong they are. Also the are $$$

i think you are meaning spindles not hubs...he has 6 lugs hubs they wont work for 8 lug..

we've chatted through PM's, i know what he's looking for, and the parts are already located for what he needs to do the 8 LUG front axle conversion when he installes the rear 14BFF.

All he will need to do is find some rims and figure out what size he wants to run :D

Thread cleaned up a little and open again. Carry on lads! :D
