is there anyone around here running rear disc on thier 14bff using the 3/4 ton calipers? will they clear a 15" steel wheel? i know for the front when running a d60 with 15" wheels you have to clearance alittle off the caliper... is this a problem with the rear also?

sweet, thanks alot guys. i have another question, just to clearify... with the calipers and rotors, from what i understand, you are supposed to use 2WD calipers and 4WD rotors correct?

are the 2 and 4wd front calipers any different? the only reason im asking is because i can get a set of brand new 2wd 3/4 ton calipers for $30

mine are 3/4 4wd rotors and calipers from the same year front axle. I also used 80's chevy chevette front rubber brake lines to go from my (self bent) new hard lines, to go to the calipers

depends. I would assume the 3/4 calipers are the same between 2wheel and 4wheel, but some 1/2ton 2wd had light duty brakes with thinner rotors (and therefore skinnier calipers).

I'm using 1/2 ton D44 calipers on 3/4 ton front rotors (12.5").

I'm running 15" wheels with 3.5" backspacing, the calipers would hit the wheel if I had any more backspacing.

How bad would they hit? I have a 3/4ton and I bought the front rotors and calipers and run them on the rear with 15x10 4.25BS, light touch of the grinder was all I needed to avoid rubbing.

It would probably be exactly what you're describing, not tons of contact. Of course, there isn't nearly as much material in a D44 caliper as there is on a D60 caliper.

I ran 15"x8" wheels with 2.75" backspacing when I first had the disc'ed rear end, it cleared no problem.

When I put on the 15"x10" wheels with 3.5" backspacing I noticed that the caliper was close and that any more backspacing would create contact between the caliper and wheel.

does anyone know if you can clearance d60 calipers enough to clear 15" wheels with 4.25" backspacing?

I am sure you can. I can check as i have a 60 in the garage and some rims/tires. The 60 has already been clearanced and is sitting with 16'' rims on it but i will check the 15''s.

Some pics of my 60 that has been ground some. 15x10-4.25BS rims, the face is about 1/4'' from the sitting flat in the disc mounting face. The caliper itself should clear, might need alittle more grinding but its the mounting bracket that needs some clearancing.
