So I pulled this out of my truck when I redid the gears last week. Just cleaned it up, Wondering if this one is worth selling/keeping, or is it scrap metal now.

4.10 open carrier

Crack in ring gear mating surface, can be seen in bolt hole both side roughly 1mm into the steel. This is only on one side of the carrier.

obvious wear where the spiders live

In not sure that's cracked. Maybe the photo is t showing what you're seeing

That's not a crack, looks like a gouge from when the carrier was manufactured. If it were cracked you would be able to see the crack in the bolt hole. The spider gear wear doesn't seem that bad but it's hard to tell with just one picture.

It's cracked and now it's a paper weight. You can see the lower crack runs right into the bolt hole.

It looks like machine marks being in such a perfect arch. Either way it's a 4.10 open carrier. Practically garbage.

Definitely a crack, can be seen extending into both interior walls of that bolt hole...

It could have been used to house a Detroit Locker, if it wasn't broken...

The gears attached to this carrier had .035 measured backlash in them just before I pulled it apart. I believe there are several cracked teeth on the ring gear that was attached to this carrier.

Thanks for looking.

Only crack I see is in your driveway. Sure looks like a gouge to me.
